Description
This tutorial is more about flexibility in Photoshop than anything else. Using the following techniques will give you the ability to go back and make adjustments to your work without committing to any one setting. I hope that using these techniques will help improve your future manipulations because the difference between a good manipulation and a great one is details. You can download a zip file from this page or take a look here [link]
Note: This is not a step by step tutorial on how to create a manipulation but a demonstration on how to use these techniques.

Hey,
I have done everything through step 2 but my pic does not look like yours (which I expected LOL). I have a question for you. I set the layer going over the face I have to overlay. The forground to white and all. When I paint it in I do not see the curves and such on the face as you have here and also it is a different color. Now, maybe there are steps in between that I am supposed to be doing like going back and repainting or something but that would paint over what I just made which does not make sense to me. I guess I am at a loss with inexperience.
Can you please give me a hint on what I may be missing? Thanks for any advice.

DId you first fill the layer mask with black? Filling the mask with black will hide everything on that layer, then paint the mask with white to let your texture or what ever show through. Its hard to answer this with out seeing what you are doing. If you can post a pic of what you have so far or a screen shot of you layers pallet. Let me know if this helps.

It should matter on the detail of the photo you are using but Im not really sure I know what you are asking. I need more details.

the overlay photo i have is not really showing any curve details or rough textures so when i applied the mask it doesn't seem to blend with the main photo.

This is an absolutely super kick ass tutorial. Very specific and right to the point. and now with this one I can completely figure out the previous. Thank you so much ! I really appreciate the tips, I'll send you a link of what I did as soon as I post, I see the details so much better now. This makes any blending possible. Will we be seeing anymore tutorials ?

Thank you so much for your kind words. It make creating tutorial worth it. They are a pain to make because I know what I want to say but how to say it so everybody will know what Im say. Did that make sence? lol
I do tutorials for people that have a good sence of the basics of Photoshop. Some people have written me and say its not working or they dont understand. Well to them I say buy a book and learn the basics.
I do plan on making more but not right now. I want to do a few manips first. If you have any ideas for tutorila you would like to see let me know.

Maybe a general photography tutorial, what you do, use, and techniqes. Because your lighting is always perfect, great poses, everything...If I think up anything else I'll toss you a line. And you're quite welcome for the kind words, they were well deserved, this tutorial really opened a new world in photoshop for me. Thanks again.

This is a very good tutorial
I think it'S perfect for newbies to get away from the over- use of the burn- tool and the simple blending of textures!

Nude is easier to manipulate, clothing gets in the way, and dates the picture.
