Description
At last, here by popular demand and just in time for Hallowe'en, the wing tutorial!I'm sooo very sorry this has taken me FOREVER to finish. I'm not really that good at making tutorials, and I hope it's not totally confusing.
Please try and ignore all the typos and spelling mistakes.
If it really doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.
Again sorry for it taking forever. My apologies.

It is very beautiful! Just wondering, could I repaste your tutorials to our local cosplay bbs? I will also share your linkage to my friends too.

Hm, if I ever do, this may help me with a Remilia Scarlet cosplay ^.^
I'm thinking of either Reimy Hakurei or her. Remilia will be somewhat of a challenge, Reimu may be easier, but I dunno ^.^ If I do Remilia, I'll refer to this tutorial!

Very nice looking wings, any suggestions on how to make one that can be easily moved, the con I'm going to won't let you in if your costume doesn't easily fit through a regular door.

I actually just grabbed the claws of the wings and held them in front of me when I walked through doors and crowded hallways. Or you can wear them all folded up, or folded down, they don't have to be a full spread. I just made sure they were all straightened before going on stage or having a photo shoot.

Can you tell me some details about the little-r black wings at the bottom or your tutorial? Measurements of fabric and estimate of cost maybe?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nolwen In reply to StrawberryCucumber [2012-06-06 13:55:25 +0000 UTC]
I probably used about half a meter of fabric for those wings (they are about 30 inches across). You could even use an old t-shirt to make it really inexpensive. I wire would be the most expensive part. You'll need about four meters of wire.

Sweet! thanks!
also are these wings the same ones in the youtube video? (for size comparisons sake) I want to be Lilith Aensland from Darkstalkers and I think I want to make the wings a little smaller than those!

Yes, these are the ones I put on youtube. I should probably put that link right in the description.

Is there a way to fold these (but not reck them) so they can fit in a car trunk?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
nolwen In reply to darkANGELicMUSE [2012-04-17 14:56:47 +0000 UTC]
Yes. If you fold them where a real wing would have the joints, then if they don't go completely straight afterwards it looks natural.

How did you do the harness? I tried a few different methods but nothing really held the wings in place enough... I had to resort to using a bunch of safety pins which was a huge hassle.

Do you think you can explain to me how you made your harness? I saw in a comment above that you said something about using stretchy fabric somehow, but could you elaborate? I'm finding that making a proper harness is as difficult as the wings.
