Playing with guns!
I personally don't really like photobashing stuff, sometimes it makes me lazy to experiment with new and different things (Still prefer an old school ways). So here it is anyway, my heavy compressed rifle gun, I hope it's not so crap. So, cheers!

I've been looking for a visual representation of what the guns th Orcs in my sci fi universe use and this (if it was a mag weapon of some description) fits perfectly the almost industrial look is awesome.

Is this semi-auto or full-auto? Because if it's the former, I'll find use for it should a sniper rifle be unavailable; if it's the latter, then I'm pretty sure a combat shotgun should go quite nicely with it. Either way I WANT THAT GUN!!!

I think it still can only handle semi-auto system, by the weighty of firepower per shot it can cause (kickback and stuff). And probably not a good choice for a sniper rifle because the front barrel wasn't really built to do that. Rifle was originally designed to do massive damage at near and medium range (yep, kind of hi-tech combat shotgun), bullets will extremely shaky for distant targets. Well, maybe it can be perfected later on Mark 2, for military standard.

I'm pretty sure Burst fire would be better for it then...with every pull of the trigger, you fire more than one bullet; you waste no ammo, and you save yourself the trouble of double-tapping.

a greyish background would be a lot better. Complete black flattens the image and makes the gun details hard to see

Definitely not crap. Definitely worth a 3D model - I was glad to see that it wasn't one already - would you mind if I wanted to make it into one? Will link back here (or wherever else you choose) and give full credit to you of course for the original concept.
