Haha, sorry about the crappy quality... I had to take the pic with my camera. =/ Anyway, these are the final possibilities for my animal character here at Ringling. We had to pick an animal from a hat and I got the WOMBAT! So cute. ^___^ So then we had to do a bunch of sketches for different characters and narrow them down to 5. After choosing a final design we're making a model sheet and animating him/her jumping and walking.I think I'm leaning more towards the 2 baby ones, but what do you guys think?

I clicked on the image cuz i thought it was really familiar, and then as i read the description i remember seeing your character @ Ringling when i went to visit accepted student day!
The old lady in the Traditional Animation section was sooo nice, we talked to her for like 45 minutes.
Do you have any recommendations for classes to take over the summer? I all ready took life drawing I, but was thinking about taking life drawing II, although i know we will be taking that @ Ringling, but the teacher also kinda recommended a theater class, so that way If i know how to act, then i would know how to make my characters act/move.

Hey there! Glad to know you'll be going to Ringling next year! I'm sure you'll have a blast your first year. I know I did. ^__^ And I'm glad to know my character was memorable enough for you to remember seeing it!
Hmm... recommendations... Honestly, I don't know what to tell you. 
What I think would be best though, would be to look at animated movies. Seriously. Watch them, and go through frame-by-frame at some parts to see how the animators did it. I don't know if you should go ahead and start animating if you haven't already, just so you don't get into any bad habits. Oh! But there's this book called The Animator's Survival Kit. We were required to get it for animation class, and it was reeeeally helpful. If you want, go ahead and buy that right now and flip through it. It's only $20 on Amazon.
A theater class probably wouldn't hurt either if you were considering taking it. It always helps to be able to act out how your characters move (and it's pretty fun sometimes too. xD)

I was looking for wombat stuff on dA and got this. These sketches are fantastic! I'm at Ringling also and I got a wombat for my character too. You did a great job of portraying different ages and personalities :> I love it

Hard decision! Umm....Well, I like the first baby one, the old man, and the right hand corner one, with his head tilted. As characters anyway, but as sketches I like them all!

thats so cool. i really like your sketches! cant decide which is my favorite though, I like them all. they each have a different kind of appeal, and each of them could take a story in a completely different direction it looks like.

They're so cuuute!! I agree, I like the baby wombats the best ^_^ And they'd be more fun to animate jumping/ walking, I would think.

80 nice! I like the one in the middle, but the lower-two are probably more in-character for most wombats.
