"Woah~" Crow chimed, coral eyes glittering in fascination as he focused on the glowing bugs illuminating the land.
Calamity giggled, eyeballing her brother as she lead them deeper into the forest. Looking back, she eyed her younger sister, who seemed to be lost in thought, nearly troubled.
"Are you alright Manakel?" She pondered, watching as her sister's head and ears rose in alarm.
"Oh, yeah I'm fine." She replied, a bit quicker than what Calamity would've liked.
"We can stop here if you want, there're plenty of Loomees here already if you're tired." She suggested, giving Manakel warm eyes under the hooded robe.
Manakel stayed quite for a while long, a soft smile growing on her face. "Sure" she agreed, slowing to a halt.
With that, Calamity made her way to a clearing, promptly taking a seat on the cold hard ground.
The cold was comforting to her, something that felt familiar to her despite this being her first winter.
She patted the ground, giving her siblings a toothy grin, gesturing for them to take a seat with her.
And so they did, taking their places close to their older sister.
She was unsure if this was due to the cold, or due to some other reasons, yet despite this, she enjoyed the close company.
"I've always wanted to see the loomees. They're probably the cutest little critters in the whole land."
She exclaimed, holding out a finger, to which a brightly red colored Loomee perched upon.
She stared into the insects bright light, chuckling as it fluttered from her hand.
"Strange how despite all of whats going on, these little buggers managed to still keep lighting up the night" she finished, looking down at Crow as he pushed and played with a Loomee of his own. She chuckled, looking down at Manakel, a Loomee taking it's place on her snoot, a joyed look on her face.
She was happy. And so were they.
"Crow... Manakel..." She began, both 'lings looking up at her with a curious look. Calamity opened her mouth to speak; however, before she could get a word out she heard something... wrong.
~They won't miss you...~
~They never loved you in the first place~
"Umami...?" Crow called, his voice shaky and uncertain. The smooth nosed wyngling shuffled closer to his sister, gripping on her robe tight enough she could feel the cloth shift from her shoulder.
"I hear it too..."
Hesitantly the indigo biped removed her hood, looking behind her slowly.
~It's your time Calamity...~
It'd taken a moment, yet not too long after, she saw a figure with bright green eyes.
Then two.
Then three.
Not before long there were far too many for her to count, bright green eyes illuminating the forest.
The cold darkness that once seemed so welcoming now felt sharp and unsettling.
Calamity's stomach dropped, a wave of heat washing over her.
"U-Umami?!" Manakel cried, Crow releasing his grip to make his way to his second sister, taking an unsure seat behind her.
Calamity stayed quiet, petrified by the sight.
Her body began to ache and her stomach churned and boiled. Her breath began to grow shallow, chest heaving up and down in an attempt to get the air she so desperately desired.
"Run..." She said far to quiet for anyone to hear. Her head began to pound, causing her to lurch forward and grab her head, squeezing at her temples in an attempt to ease the pain.
"They're getting closer!" Crow exclaimed. Calamity forced her eye open, her vision focusing on a tall white yittle, it's sadistic grin flashing all white of it's disturbing sharp teeth.
Calamity lurched forward, heaving as if she were about the throw up.
Everything around her began to grow hazy. Everything on her burned, the adult grunting in pain as if to contain something within her.
"Calamity!" One of her siblings called, the biped looking back despite being unable to tell who exactly she was looking at.
"You're glands, ar-"
"RUN!" She exploded, her throat hoarse, the sound of her cry echoing through out the forest. "Go! Run to the nook, NOW!"
She exclaimed once more, feeling what she thought was tears pool and drip from her eyes.
~They're going to die out there. And it'll be your fault.~
Calamity continued to heave nearly falling into the fetal position.
The spites began to close in around her, their sinister giggles echoing in her mind.
She could feel the push and pull of magic as they began to drink for her. When she thought there could be nothing left, a wave of heat and energy would wash over her, allowing the yittles to chatter and giggle in satisfaction whilst forcing the gro to cry out in pain.
Eventually more energy was building than what was being drained, the grow slowly stand up. She could feel her eyes, specifically her glands, pulse and burn with energy, the light from their glow obscuring her sight.
FWOOSH
In a huge burst, the grow combusted, fire starting from every inch of her body exploding around her.
Even over the fire explosion she could hear the yittles cries of pain as they were burned alive.
They fired continued to pour from her, burning every article of clothing she once had on until there was nothing left.
She truly felt empty.
her body loosely stood sanding a blank look in her eyes.
"Calamity!"
The words couldn't register in the gro's head. Her senses felt muddled, like mud was stuffed into her ears.
Her body began to fall forward, the air generated from her movement being the only giveaway that she were making any movement.
With a muddled thud, Calamity made contact with the ground. Hard.
Despite this, not a breath exited her.
Nor did one enter.
"CALAMITY NO, CALAMITY"
Despite knowing words were being said, she couldn't recognize them. It was just muffled cry after muffled cry.
A slight push could be felt, but eventually that began to wither away.
As did she.
Until she was nothing.
