great...another random street shot getting DD...*SIGH*

"A romantic tale in the city night, with a culinary subplot"  - makes no f***'n sense whatsoever.  I mean what next? "A person buying a newspaper, with a Mormon subplot"

That because you are obviously not looking the right way. The two people a kissing in the back ground, while another person is eating food up front. it's a pun of two romances. One loves another person while the another person loves food. It's perception.

IT's better then a DD based on a girl with 95% of her tit's hanging out.

A person buying a newspaper could very well be the subject of a street DD. Whatever subject could be the subject of a street photograph, actually.

Street photography is a genre of photography that features subjects in candid situations within public spaces (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_p… .

And, if you dislike my DD features, you are welcome to discuss it with me through notes, or - if you need to state your opinion publicly - on my profile page. You might suggest something yourself.

The photographers I feature don't ask nor choose to be featured and don't deserve your complaints under their images.

If you want everyone to love your work, you should show it to your family, not the internet... Personally, I don't see anything wrong with letting someone know they didn't find their art particularly creative, even if they're harsh about it.

nice effort to show someone a kind of art they are unaware of. Vain at the same time as they will obviously keep on being unaware. It takes eyes to see. Not all have them.

Complaints? More like critiques, "comments" are here mainly for two reasons, "saying artist is great and we like his work "-supportive- and "saying what WE think might need some improvement"-opening his eyes- so don´t tell us we should not complain when it is just a critique. And what would be art world without unique opinions on same piece of art?

Are you criticizing this work getting a daily deviation or criticizing the work as any other work that could be uploaded to dA?
Reading what you wrote under here, you are in the first choice, so please don't give your anger to the photographer but to the one who featured the work AS a daily deviation as the photographer isn't guilty of getting his photograph featured.

Can barely see her face.

Lack of detail

Sorry, little critique here.

imho: I don´t think this photo is bad. But I don´t think it outstands in composition, colours or even quality...

It makes me sad, that mediocre photo like this got DD. No offense meant to the artist.

(Too bad dA is nowadays full of so called artists like that. Some galeries reminds me more of Instagram than art-site.)

I hate it when people throw "suggest DDs" at me. I do suggest them. And I've had one accepted, and there was a wait of like a month for it to be accepted. We really can't cut some of the crap back? I am really happy when I see a list of really great DDs, but most days I don't see anything special.

I guess as long as "good" and "special" are completely in the eye of the beholder, there isn't any good way to cut out the stuff that doesn't "deserve" it.

sometimes, I also question the DD's. after finding out that there's a group that can make anybody's wish of getting a DD (and I'm not too sure what they mean by anybody) it makes me wonder if they're even trying. =u=;

i don't think you realize that photography is actually an art form. but either way, not everything here is there just for your pleasure. you seem to judge the photo based on the things you don't like then just judge it yourself if its worthy of a DD or not. think composition, timing, etc. there are so much things to consider.

nothing is perfect, and don't let that sadden you. plus whats wrong with instagram some people have awesome photos on there.

maSqueKawon In reply to Bajilla [2013-08-04 14:34:30 +0000 UTC]

I just say there are plenty of better photos which take your breath away and stun you and make you think about something deeply. I don´t say you need to feel that every time. But some photos are just dull, you would not get struck by them even if they were plugged to 1000 volts.

And about instagram, I don´t say there are absolutely no good photos. But you have to consider quality and quantity. And instagram is well known for one thing, and it´s not quality.

Bajilla In reply to maSqueKawon [2013-08-04 14:43:52 +0000 UTC]

if you think so then you should start suggesting art as DD. everybody seems to be fussing and i don't think anyone wants to do anything.

but still, i think this photograph is actually pretty good. and yeah sure, its fine that you don;t agree and you don't feel all the volts or whatever. either way i just don't think everybody can like every single thing thats suggested as DD, but that doesn't make them less worthy of being a DD.

well sure, i guess you just gotta follow the right people. but instagram is more of a social network than an art site in the end.

While it may not be a perfectly executed shot, it captures the feelings of the moment and the contrast between them. The people are giving in to their desires in different ways here. The young lovers' PDA is barely concealed in the alcove of the doorway in what is obviously a very public space without regard for who may be watching because of the strength of their desire for each other. Meanwhile the woman just around the corner is satisfying a more literal hunger. I think this photo has a lot to say.

It's not just about human desire but also the proximity of the two things happening here can almost be comically ironic because of that proximity and the possible lack of awareness of what the other is doing. It conjures a little story in the mind that this woman is standing there about to enjoy her snack while the couple comes along and dodges into the doorway to enjoy a kiss. Along comes this photographer and -SNAP!- we are all included in the moment. It is then a comment on urban life and privacy or a lack thereof.

Bravo! Kudos on the DD.

This guy is spot on.  You have to delve deeper into the photograph then simply wanting to be wowed by colors or composition.  I certainly couldn't say it any better than the deviant above.

Congrats to the photographer on the DD, well done!
