This is very helpful! Though, I tried one...and it looks very un-treeish. But, it's better than the trees I did before. Thanks a bunch!

I'm a detail freak too... the bad thing is I become frustrated easily so you can imagine the amount of unfinished pics I have
This one will be useful in a ยดic i have unfinished with a boy sitting in a tree
Thanks
(and sorry for that comment in spanish that last time)

that's a nice collection of tips, I'm just wondering about the stump of the branch..wouldn't you be able to see annual rings?
Anyway, great job. Keep it up!

That's exactly what makes the tree unique. You never see the rings outside.

This is a very useful tutorial.
I'm just beginning to use my tablet, the only thing I had made so far is practice on a lineart, but this 2nd time I was really eager to draw my own character. Everything was going really fine I must say, I liked it, I started painting the sky, stars (I must say, I dislike the idea of drawing without backgrounds)... and then the grass, the tree... but heck I realized I have NO idea of how to make a texture... and I was very frustrated like an hour ago, for I dunno what to do (the grass, the tree.. it all looked so.. plastic...) and then I found you and your 2 VERY useful tutorials for this.
I'm sorry for all this ranting, but I think thanks to you I'm ready to look at it again and continue working on it.

Thank you very much! I need to practice the "painty" feel, as I tend to rely on the "inking" layer to be there - but I do like how it looks without the lines. Great job, and it is very interesting to see some of your thought process.
With respect,
Anton
