I seen and fell in love with the concept - so here is my entry for Neytirix 's contest >> neytirix.deviantart.com/journa…Probably my few watchers now fleeing in terror guessing what drugs I might took painting this - and they are right as ironically I actually loved working with this one
Also while a lot of details were not given I sort of humored it by turning it into a Tarot card; >> Ten of Swords <<
"In a general context, the Ten of Swords is not a good omen as it can represent backstabbing betrayal, badmouthing, bitching behind your back, bitterness and enemies. It is a Minor Arcana card of failure, ruin, collapse, severing ties, goodbyes and the final nail in the coffin of a relationship or situation. It can signify nervous breakdowns, chronic fatigue, exhaustion and being unable to cope. It can also represent hitting rock bottom, hitting a wall or being in a dead end situation. The Ten of Swords can also indicate someone playing the victim or martyr, being overly dramatic, attention seeking or exaggerating. It can also signify violence, attacks and curses."

Okay this was fun, and refreshing new zone to try myself on and for sure I learnt some new things with it. Definitely worth the time

the harsh coloring is exactly what's the most appealing to my eyeballs! it's super cool and modern, i wish i had a sense for this kind of style, absolutely love it!

I can't deny this was fun and wasn't that far of my actual style either, though I tend to work more often with colors of my favorites instead trying out different combinations and this design forced me to work with those colors I less likely would pick myself. It gave that refreshment made the whole a lot more fun in the end too

The overall composition and idea are so original! Really love the stained glass look it has, I could really see something like that on ancient ruins ;0; Plus it really fits his design without making him look bad! Really smart :'DD

Finding a way to place him without make him too out of its environment was the greatest challenge for this one - so I tried to focus what his colors remind me the most on - hence where the stained glass/mural idea came to me! Once this was settled in my mind it was a lot more easy to make a good composition which can synergy well and mutually effect each other - character to environment and vica versa!
I loved this contest because it made me think artistically more to find creative solution on things I personally never would do myself. A bit like thinking out of the box, my comfort zone - and I LOVE colors and working with them just never imagined to work with so many vivid toned ones on one pile. Glad if you think I could nail it well!

Nah, there are MANY amazing entries with various and great approaches! I personally loved a lot when checked the entries
When I was working with it I was thinking those psychedelic arts which always so color-bombs yet somehow still organized. But they did give me the idea to try to work bright instead dark as that blends better the heavy coloration and for some weird reason it seemed like working

I love working with mural styled arts, been a while I did though as lately I am too lazy to finish my stuff I just producing more and more wips and cry over that never anything done
The stained glass was new, I did stained glass alike patterns but never actual stained glass so hope it not looks too weird

It's hard to work with bright saturated colours(honestly I had headaches trying to stand the colours when making mine),but yours pulled off very well!
Tarot card style is such an interesting idea too!!

I think the hardest with it not the work with the figure colors because it can be saturated or shadowed the way it won't really make your eyes bleed - but to place those colors into any environment where you really feel can fit and 'natural' for it.
Most figures coloration and patterns be it OC, fantastical creatures designed to fit well in the creators world and story and there is a good synergy there be it cybperpunk, fantasy, urban, dreamy.. etc
This one colour combination either suit a graffiti or those very vivid lucid dreams.
I first wanted to make a graffiti sprayed on a wall coming alive making a good strong contrast of dull urban tones slapped with sudden colours and by it exploding life (good storytelling on making the everyday routine and annoyance defeated by daydreaming and ones fantasy to enchant one to a better more fun place in the creative mind).
Ended up still choose the dreams which are often surreal with various symbolism one only can understand themselves as those usually are rather personal dreams with meanings others would never think the same way about - a very wide playground where literally everything is possible!
With the dreams Tarot cards with their strong symbolical messages perfectly fit so I read up some Arcanas to find one could suit the character and found humorous to go with the 10 swords; make a relatively 'serious' looking composition which never will qualify to a serious work with the colors so humored with a hidden 'dark' theme as I could and dreams exactly the place making such heavy different concepts fit together
