Description "I was in awe of them, and owed them everything."

Goes with this earlier sketch: [link] (Fenris and female kossith Fog Warrior)

In my head, some of the Fog Warriors were kossith. This is just headcanon stuff. Hope you enjoy.

I draw the female kossith the way I like... sorry it's not like the concept artwork....

Sorry, DG said somewhere, the Fog Warriors were the natives of Seheron who fight for freedom both against Qunari and Tevinter. So they just can't be kossith. Besides as I understand since the Tal-Vashoths abondon the Qun they can't be considered Kossith...

Either way the pic is really great )

Kossith is the species of people. Fog warriors can be Kossith. They however cannot be Qunari, as Qunari follow the Qun. Any race can be a Qunari, Elf, Kossith, Human, Dwarf, etc. Tal-Vashoth are dissenters of the Qun. They may be Kossith, but not Qunari. Qunari is not a race, it is those who follow the Qun. It's just that general Thedas society (especially in Kirkwall) flings both terms around like they are interchangeable when they aren't really.

Now, whether or not there are Kossith among the Fog Warriors? Hard to say. I'd like to imagine it would be possible for Kossith to be outside of the Qun, living on that island for ages. But for all we know they are humans or something else. We do know that Fenris learns of the Qun through them however. Maybe we'll find out later?

If you turn from the Qun you are no longer Qunari, you are Tal-Vashoth, but they are kossith no matter what label they have.

Kossith is their...species, so Tal-Vashoth would still be Kossith, not Qunari? At least that's how I understood it. Like if you were Christian and then converted or became agnostic, that doesn't mean you stop being human?

You know, I had the same thought, that some of them were Kossith. Originally I thought they ALL were because I misunderstood something Fenris said while he was talking about them, plus I assumed that's where he learned about Qunari culture. Reading up on the wiki, they're apparently a mix of races who are rebelling against the Imperium, and I think it's safe to assume there would be some Tal-Vashoth in the mix as well.

Also, I LOVE your female Kossith design. I love how she's not petite and girly. And that look on her face in the last panel just breaks my heart to pieces. Well done.

Thanks, I sort of prefer a manlier kossith design. They should be, hmm, robust! I still think they're pretty this way too.

Words can't express how awesome this is! It always surprised me how pictures/comics/stories there were of the fog warriors. Thank you for completely blowing me away

It surprises me too! It seems like something a lot of people just plain forget about, even though I consider it a huge part of his backstory.

Me too, but I'm not sure if they are or not, canonically? It was never specified, I don't think.... (I still prefer imagining them as such.)

ErinM31 In reply to notationn [2011-11-30 02:54:53 +0000 UTC]

I've never seen it specified either and I agree with you. To me, it makes sense then that Fenris knows the kossith language and customs and seems to hold them in respect.

notationn In reply to ErinM31 [2011-11-30 05:41:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, exactly. To me, learning the ways of the Qunari among the Fog Warriors would only make sense if they were defectors, or at least some of them. I'm sure he learned some things in Seheron while guarding Danarius too of course, but I can't imagine it would be much. He was just a warrior; Danarius would have no reason to teach him these things, or even let him fraternize enough with others to learn them.
