He does have camouflage !! Except it only works if he's naked, so if he wants to hide, he has to strip entirely. He usually just uses ink splatter to make a run for it.
he sometimes likes to pretend he's a ghost. just floating clothes.
In the middle of his back, where his tentacles are, he has a beak, which he can also eat from. because i do things like that. That's where he can spit ink from too, so there's always a big slit in the back of his shirts for his tentacles (even if he decides to keep them hidden).
it doesn't need to make sense if it's fiction.
