Description
This is a special person in my life. His favorite color is green. His favorite sport is soccer, and his favorite music is found on the Guitar Hero games. Like a lot of kids, he goes to school, and his favorite subject is reading. He loves swimming, computer games, and eating. He likes to dress up as Spider Man for Halloween, and wishes he could be Spider Man in real life. He has his own likes, dislikes, talents, and quirks. He breathes air, his heart beats, his mind thinks, and he has feelings. Oh yeah, by the way, he has autism, but really heβs just another human like you and me, and loves to be treated as one."If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away." - Henry David Thoreau
Faves, features, comments, and watches are always welcome and extremely appreciated. Thank you for any support in advance (although I will try to thank you personally, sometimes life gets in the way)! If you use this picture, please send a link!
Update: To answer a frequent question I'm seeing: Yes, I am sharing with him his feedback, and no, he didn't technically write the text himself, but he did to the best of his ability, so he deserves the credit. In my opinion, yes he wrote it and deserves the credit because he did his very best and that's all anyone can do.

Simply Remarkable! I love this picture and it's meaning. As someone who also knows a child with Autism, I'm so happy to see positive thinking and support for those touched with this disorder. Thanks for such a powerful and emotional photograph.

One word: Brilliant!!! It really have alot of meaning for me. Like Lady Gaga said: "it's ok to be freak", so do the autism. It is ok to be yourself, no matter what people are thinking about you!!! ^^. Sorry for my bad English.

Omg, that text made me cry cause I was so touched by it. It's easy to forget that people who has autism actually are just
the same as others, they just have a different way to think and express themselves. A friend of mine has a younger brother who has a quite serious type of autism, and I always get quite fascinated when I think of what's going on inside his head all the time. He sees the world in another way than I do and he has a lot of qualitys that I don't have, for exemple he's extremly musical. And he's still human.
This was very inspiring, thank you!

Your brother is lovely (can't think of a more masculine word, eek) and bold and you are apparently just as fearless and wonderful. I've always admired people who can share things so important and close to their hearts and this is a perfect example of that.
Thanks to both you and your brother!

wow that's really awesome that this photo has gotten so many favs and comments. it great to see someone like you who is sending a positive message to people and showing us all that no matter what problems we have, we're all still human. i know a lot of people that instantly judge others for problems and disabilities that they may not be able to help. it's really sad to me, and to see something like this is exactly how i feel about it. i don't have any disabilities myself, but i feel so sorry for those that do, and feel it wrong to act like they're less human because of it. great message and i love the picture. your brother's adorable.

OMG, SOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL
My little brother also has autism, and since he was 2 years old my mom had made a lot of work with him, so actually, he's 10 years old and goes to the school(a normal school *-*),makes his homework alone, goes out with his friends(he has some little friends in the street), writes stories(little ones and simples, but stories!!!) and he wants meet the world and a lot of people(yes xD he's a little kind of sociable xD)
Anyway...You picture made me so happy in this moments, congratulations for you, your brother and all the family, really I know how difficult can be have someone like our brothers in a family *-*
If one day my brother learns english or your brother spanish, I'll be so glad of make contact(and anyway, if he wants to stay in contact with an autist child mexican, I can try to traslate xD)
See you!!!

He's an incredibly cute boy I have to admit that I have always troubles dealing with disabled people. I don't know how to treat them, I'm afraid of being too careful or, worse, insensitive. But it seems like you gave the perfect explanation. Thanks
(If this sounds still kind of wrong I'm sorry)

May I make a correction in your statement. We are not disabled, society believes we are disabled. :] continue making an effort, just be yourself and you'll be fine.

I must say, bravo. Just B R A V O. I have Lyme Disease myself, and this is more of what I want to see!
This applies to people with any condition; Mental, health, whatever. People need to learn to treat us as though we're exactly the same! This gets a fav from me, and I am showing this to everyone I know. Goodness, I hope this boy knows how friggin' AWESOME HE IS.
