Really impressive!
Raymond carver has a poem named "Fear".
this shot reminds me that poem:
"Fear of seeing a police car pull into the drive.
Fear of falling asleep at night.
Fear of not falling asleep.
Fear of the past rising up.
Fear of the present taking flight.
Fear of the telephone that rings in the dead of night.
Fear of electrical storms.
Fear of the cleaning woman who has a spot on her cheek!
Fear of dogs I've been told won't bite.
Fear of anxiety!
Fear of having to identify the body of a dead friend.
Fear of running out of money.
Fear of having too much, though people will not believe this.
Fear of psychological profiles.
Fear of being late and fear of arriving before anyone else.
Fear of my children's handwriting on envelopes.
Fear they'll die before I do, and I'll feel guilty.
Fear of having to live with my mother in her old age, and mine.
Fear of confusion.
Fear this day will end on an unhappy note.
Fear of waking up to find you gone.
Fear of not loving and fear of not loving enough.
Fear that what I love will prove lethal to those I love.
Fear of death.
Fear of living too long.
Fear of death.
I've said that."

This is great. Looks so helpless and vulnerable. Also good perspective

besides the strong pose and face, what really makes me like this shot [and the whole series] is the fact that you guys were willing to go to some grungy place and get filthy and nude just to get the crazy awesome look that you got. not many people want to do that kind of thing, and the art world suffers because of it
you nailed Fear on the forehead too, btw.
awesome work.

Stunning series. What is in the bath?... is it just muddy water?

Wow, this photograph is beautiful. Did you do her makeup or do the bruising in photoshop? It holds up the title of 'Fear' greatly and the grimy-ness makes it more unsettling to the viewer. It's crisp and a sharp photograph as well. Stunning. =]

thank you so much for the in depth feedback! actually its powder tempera paint dissolved into the water...and after about an hour i think that stuff got into my pores because i was so DIRTY!!! weeks later, now, when i clean my ears, there's still bits of black in there!

No problem. I'm really impressed to here it tempera paint, rather than photoshop. That's something you see less and less here. It's nice to see the photo and figure are totally real and not just enhanced with photoshop brushes.

what we did was rubed the water all over the walls and rinsed them and all sorts of application, and then when i began editing the raw, since the lighting setup i udes had to capture the detail int he dark water and figue, i selectively brought the levels curve down on just the wall. so that brought out all the values of the paint on the wall. then i toyed with the contract f the entire image, to refine the detail on the skin. the only thing i added in terms of brushes and editing is some grunge around the edge, combined with simple burning. then sepia tone filter, color correction, and detail burn and dodge. that's my process!

That's a really cool process. Yea, I just usually slap my photographs into photoshop and curve it some and that's that.
Nice to know such effort went into it, because it pays off!

I really like this piece. If I were to criticise, the only thing I could pick out would be that some of the grunge is so abrupt (on the R hand and L shoulder, mostly) that it seems like imperfection in the picture, rather than dirt on the shoulder. Really eerie piece, though. Well done.

Very cool representation of the emotion - I like how it's so grungy/dirty, the pose is good, and the almost black and white colour scheme conveys the fear the person is feeling. I also like the way the photo appears to be eating in on itself, with the black encroaching from the outside. Good job!

Heyyy Now that's a good shot! but why so small ? All the contrasted details and fine edges are lost in such a small format. I really like that picture. The expression is well done in the general pose, background and dirt add a lot to the creepy feeling and strenghten the "fear" feeling. The only thing that would have made this shot better in my opinion would have been an additional facial expression of fear. Esspecially with strong white eyes and dark almost colourless pupils.

And that's really a pity. But hey ... i don't know who said it but theft is always the biggest sign of approval for an artist
