Description
Ah, it's good to be back! I've been meaning to revisit these characters for a while, and now that I've got the creative juices flowing again, everything just fell nicely into place over the last couple of days.
Not too long after the previous installment, Chris and Annika were living a little ways off the northern California coast, doing their best to get by without drawing attention to themselves. This continued for a while until one day, they met a young woman not unlike themselves. Several years before, Lily, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, found a mysterious necklace on the beach that transformed her into an octopus-girl. Luckily for her, her father was very supportive, and constructed a sizable cliff-side home for her, featuring an indoor pool with an ocean access and enough security to keep the busybodies and paparazzi out.
Contrary to rich-bitch stereotype, Lily is actually a very kind-hearted young lady, and she was quick to take in the two very grateful squid-girls. Lily herself was quick to adapt after her change, and is honestly quite happy in her altered life. Since meeting Chris and Annika, she's been trying to help them accept their changes the way she has. Annika's been more or less receptive, but Chris is another story. Lily's been trying to comfort her, but hasn't quite grasped that Chris's main problem isn't the tentacles. Here we see her trying to reassure Chris that cecaelia life isn't such a bad deal. And Annika? Oh, she's around...
I'm very pleased with just about everything except the backgrounds here. I'm pretty happy with how the anatomy turned out, although Chris's head came out a little odd, andd the secret to convincing arms and hands continues to elude me :/ Doing the tentacle textures was fun; now that I've figured out the noise + blur trick in Photoshop, I'm finding a whole lot of uses for it I like how Lily's character design came out especially. I think I might be doing another picture or two with these characters...

Actually it's just one cecaelia and one human guy (I think he's one of the security guards.) The girl is Annika, the blonde from the previous picture.

1: They're called cecaelia [link]
2: You're treating their tentacles like a skirt- they're always spread out. Consider that tentacles are a part of them, and should be treated as limbs that they control. So, don't randomly & evenly spread them out. have some holding the couch, casually resting, or reaching for something.
Having one wrapped around the redhead's waist is a good example of this- human-arms are not the only way they can reach out for each other, even if it may be odd to humans in the first place.
3: Since they are seated on the couch, the tentacles should be curved to show us that they *are* seated rather than merely floating in front of it.
4: As far as anatomy (and this applies to the uncensored ver. as well), I feel like the black-haired girl's right breast is placed too high. I get that her shoulder is higher, but the way you drew it looks unbalanced.
Oh, and work on your hands a little more too.
Nice concept though! Keep at it!

1. Yes, they are.
2. Yeah, I could have done a little more with this. I intentionally avoided it with Chris (the redhead) because she's rather uncomfortable with her body, but I am trying to do more with it on the other two. Hopefully I'll have the hang of it in future pics.
3. Backgrounds in general are something I really need to work on, I'm afraid. I tried to fit them around the couch a little more, but it was difficult when I hadn't really given the couch any depth to begin with. Now that I'm finally getting the hang of drawing people semi-believably, I'm going to try and work on this more.
4. Yeah, it is a little bit too high, now that I look at it. I'm still getting the hang of drawing breasts in anything other than a static resting position, so eh. And I'm afraid hands are my single greatest weakness :/
Well, practice makes perfect, as they say...

Actually I really like this version more. Its got a rather sensitive side to it. Not that I object to the alternate version

Yeah. I liked the way the characters themselves turned out so much that I had to upload the alternate version, but this one really does have more of the feel I was going for.
