Description
A commission for ... she asked for a sketchy Kalamu, but I got to pick the setting/pose..and for whatever reason, stomping through mud puddles is what sounded good at the time! XD

*chuckles* What an awesome pose here. I've always thought Kala had such a neat character, and it looks like such fun to have her stomping through the mess. Fantastic and playful work!

Oh fffff! That is the pinnacle of cute floofyness. I never imagined Kalamu could be this adorable and chubby and mud stomp-y!
I love the sense of how the weight is placed around, maybe a weird thing to mention, but it actually looks like she's about to lift that one hind leg instead of just posing or standing around like so many running or jumping or dramatically arching animals around dA
I rather like the earthy tones you used for her too, brown can be such a boring colour, but you used it awesomely here, or maybe it's just the body language of the character? Either way it looks mighty good
And Kalamu... where to start? She'd adorable! Gosh! I love that face and how she looks both carefree, joyous and childishly, squinty-eyed concentrated. The way you draw fluff is as always great, I really like the ruffled look you gave her. And the feet! Oh my, the feet are the greatest, the talons, the claws, the way they spread to allow mud to squirt between them, AWESOME!
Thank you so much, if I haven't said it enough already; I friggin love it!

Oh YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!
I was gettin' worried when you hadn't responded to my note ( I do still need your physical addy!)
and I'm so glad you like it.. cause actually I was sweatin' this one a little bit.. just cause I hadn't done that style of art an what felt like a long time, because 'Mu is rather popular (worried i wasn't going to draw or represent her in the right way), and because YOU are very talented and would spot a mistake of mine a mile away!
I LOVE FEET.. i really really do.. so I'm glad I did her's justice, lol
funny sidenote: I brought this to work on at our church's "project night".. and I'm like.. the only one there who isn't crosstitching or scrapbooking, right? (also the only one under 30...) and the other ladies are like "WTH is THAT??" .. i had a time of it trying to explain to them what a gryphon was, but then this one isn't really a traditional type anyways and.. hehe.. and one lady is all "you mean someone is paying you for that???" like.. i was really wasting my time.. or you were wasting your money.. not sure really
it was great. they now think i'm much weirder than they already thought i was XD

I'm noting now!
No shit? I'm very talented and 'Mu is popular? What planet is this? xD
Ooooh, people on The Other Side, I call them Normals or the Unknowing, they frequently show lack in mythological knowledge and general Internet culture. Both can be a pain in the rear to explain, especially when they donβt want to understand!

WHAAAAAAAAT? somebody thinks you're weird and that you're wasting you're time? you are SOOOOO not!
my personal definition of a modern adaption of a gryphon is "any beast (usually mammal) with the head and wings (and sometimes front legs) of any bird."
but don't you let ANYBODY ever tell you that you aren't as talented as them, okay? NEVUHR!
