Hey, Nico!Let's go bowli..So I watched through a whole season of Love Live to understand why idol stuff is so popular and... I still don't get it.
I liked Nico (of course) and bird!
Anyway, practicing getting the character to fit with the environment lighting. Getting the character to look part of the location is one of the reason I find doing backgrounds really difficult/pain in the ass. (Mostly applies to paintings.)

i like it too nico is my favorite girl from love live 1. im guessing to get really into it you would probably need to invest allot into it and go into the other forms of media as well such as the audio dramas games etc. i watched the anime and want to at least give the game a shot once i get a better phone.

I personally believe idol stuff is popular because of the characters, music, and merchandise. Also, the rhythm game for Love Live is pretty all right.
On another note, I really like your rendition of Nico! I think the background really frames the character, and despite being a pain in the ass worked out in the end. Keep on trucking!

Japan likes their idols, especially when they're still young and untainted.
I've watched a bit of Idolmaster, and even though it's not bad, I don't really get the hype myself, either. I haven't seen Love Live, but I do like the design of most of the girls more than those of IM.
