I only found out about this contest a week before the deadline so I had a little bit amount of time to draw. That's why its lacking background, I originally planned to draw more angles or at least a proper background. I wanted to try it out since the idea catches my interest, and that's why I entered.

I went for the mech path since they are androids after all, but I also wanted to preserve the beauty of a merman. I originally wanted to draw a light weight armor, but it didn't fit right for the idea of a scout. 9S is more of a back line kind of character that supports 2B from a distance. His gameplay shows it. So I decided to put some sort or carapace on his torso. (I also thought putting armor on a fish makes it difficult for them to swim....)
