Ovelle is a commission for !I've admired Mantibabs as a species for a while now, and as my plush skills have evolved over time, I thought that plushing one would be a great challenge and a change from what I've made in the past. They have such unique anatomy and always varied markings and colors! When Shinto came to me with Ovelle, I knew I had to plush her! Her colors and markings are just fabulous and provided fun and exciting technical challenges to overcome.
I really put my heart and soul into her form and details, and I'm overjoyed with how she looks. She's definitely my greatest plush accomplishment so far and I'm super proud of her, something that as an artist who's constantly critical of herself, I very rarely get to feel, haha.
For the specs:
Ovelle isΒ 17" tall at the top of her head (not including her horns).
She is made out of white, azure, pumpkin, orange, electric blue, pink, and rust minky.
She has poly pellets in her feet to weight her a little, and many of her details (eyes, blue spots, eyebrow) are machine embroidered.
I was struck with the idea to make a quick turnaround GIF (probably from too much 3D modelling for school) so I figured I'd link it here!

And her toes are needle sculpted with embroidery floss, so the separation is a little thicker than with thread.

Ahh, okay! That explains the look; I couldn't tell at first due to the thickness of the toe indents, I'll have to keep that in mind because it's a great idea.

HELLO wow. I've been wanting to give up on making plushes myself, because I can't find nice free patterns and I can't seem to create a good one for myself, but THIS. Wow. I am so blown away I just can't quit now! I don't know HOW you created this AMAZING WONDERFUL FANTASTICAL piece of art, but I am absolutely speechless and shocked. I saw a WIP of this and was impressed, but now? I can't even. Words do not describe how amazing this is!Β
Those horns are so cute and her EARS are just fabulous and can we talk about that BUTT. FLUFF. Wowa. I am insanely in love with the detail, time, and effort you put into this piece. You can just SEE that you put your heart into it and your love SHOWS. I know Shin will take super good care of this Ovelle Plush and I know they will treasure it always. I'm so moved that you would keep plushing because of this, wow! I mean... that means so much! It's hard and definitely a struggle to pattern your own plushes, but if you stick with it, you certainly will get better! Rehashing patterns over and over is the way, haha!

she looks ACE she looks absolutely ace, I pulled up the reference image when I saw this and just gaped for ages because she is SO. PERFECT.
Her eyes ! And the little freckles! The SCARS the SCARS MAN I AM SUPER IMPRESSED, i know we discussed several ways of doing them but this way worked out INCREDIBLE!! The horns! The little stand up horns! And the PUFF EARS! WOW! DANG! AND THE SHEEP PANTS I literally cannot get over the sheep pants, I can't, they're amaaaazingggggg gods
The mouth line! The jagged beak! The POP! COLLAR! It's all there! it's all there and all so WELL PUT TOGETHER I AM SCREECHING LIKE A BANSHEE, STILL, THIS HAS BEEN UP FOR HOURS AND I AM .STILL. FLOORED
Her little BUTT! the tail! The fact that the tail falls to exactly where it is supposed to I cannot even DRAW it properly I am incapable of expressing how utterly blown away I am by the accuracy of the tail! THE LITTLE FREAKING DEW TOES IN THE FRONT! SCREECHING! The puff of white for the tail! The slight asymmetry and the UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL FABRIC!
The lithe body! The shape of everything all put together! HOW PROUD HER HEAD STANDS!! The snide look! THE ENTIRE EXPRESSION IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, JUST, !!!!Β

omgggg i was screaming at phloxe last night about this because i can't believe how perfectly you captured the design and all the markings and matched the colours like...actually perfectly and im crying woW there is a thing i designed and drew on a trackpad of all things, someone loved it so much that they got a plush of it and you are so talented and so good it is captured perfectly in it's entirety wow ;; im losing my mind over this thing dang a+ so good
