A mostly-straightforward upgrade of the original, the new-model TapaniCEV adds a large, heavy duty excavator arm to its already-extensive toolset. This can then be used to... Well, dig. It also has a reinforced spike mounted at the joint which means it can also be used to poke holes in things - although some engineering teams have already mounted hooks or loops so that it can be used to pull things, move things around, or even precisely place demolition charges during combat operations. The arm itself is strong enough to pull the whole vehicle along or lift-slash-roll other vehicles, making it useful for rapidly clearing wreckage and debris.

While there was some debate as to whether to remove the 'A' frame given that the new excavator arm can fulfill much the same purpose, it was decided in the end to leave this decision up to crews in the field.

For those who don't want to refer to the original, the upgraded model has the following feature set: Armored bulldozer blade, articulated excavator bucket arm, twin forward swing arms with cable pulleys, super-duty cable winch, medium duty cable winch, modular equipment hardpoints, swing-arm 'A' frame with personnel deck, medium-type ordinance launcher, utility grenade launchers, medium-duration crew cabin with NBC systems, and a tool room slash workshop.
