Well I was originally inspired by Yavin and Yavin 4, but that works too xD

Yavin is a really big red world. The moon is very earthlike and green.

Yes. And the ruby is twice the size of Jupiter and a lot warmer. Yaven is a failed star. The moon is actually a captured class M planet.

I love it, and it gives me that noir vibe and I love noir like things but, this is noir sci-fi and the shading and lighting are just perfect for this piece of art. keep up the fantastic artwork friend~

A lot of the shadings and different transitions of the values of this picture are very smooth, NuclearJackal. I think, that's one of the most difficult things about performing space drawings. The general shapes are usually done easily enough. But when you get down to the nitty gritty, its all about very minute changes in shading and texture.

I look at this, and I can tell that the textures and shading was really well done, with a patient hand. And yet, its missing an often seen element in real life space photography: Clouds of dust and debris. Of course, that's just a testament to how time consuming these types of drawing are. Many artists don't include dust clouds in space drawings, as they have infinitely more complex shapes and gradations of color and shadow in them.

And yet... there's a hint of tranquility to this image that I really like. I think I actually would prefer it to remain black and white. It's so peaceful.

Quite an astute observation andΒ I applaud your planetary prowess. I wholeheartedly agree about the shading. It does take time and a steady hand to create something like this, digital or not. Many congratulations for NuclearJackal on that amount of detail.

Let us stare at the serene tranquillity of this celestial scenery and gaze at the stars beyond...

This message has been sitting in my notifications page for a long time, Vodos. Haha, I've been putting off answering it, but I've decided to give it my best shot. First, thank you very much for you comment, Vodos. I am glad you like my "astute observation".

I wanted to have a look over at your gallery before responding. Considering that your comment was in response to a comment I made on someone else's drawing, I figured it would only be fair to look at some of your drawings before I responded.

Yet... time has a way of getting away from us. Especially with the holiday season, and all the hectic events of the past couple of weeks... I'm sorry that I took so long to look over your gallery, Vodos.Β

I quite like the expressions on your smiley's submission, as well as the +1 Watcher submission. And the "Like a Sir!" drawing made me chuckle. You've got an excellent imagination, Vodos, filled with Lovecraftian influence. I shall watch you, and look forward to seeing more of your art.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
KloutSketch.

Vodos In reply to DruidPeter [2015-01-01 01:48:35 +0000 UTC]

My, that is a veritable wall of text!

I must thank you for the watch, my friend. I also tend to have messages sit in the ol' inbox for a while so I apologise for any delay. It has been quite sometime since someone has put such a magnitude of effort and thought into such a comment, let alone browsed my gallery before doing so. I figure it was only right of me to do the same.

From what I saw, your Kolodruid Tale Webcomic has potential to someday be quite a force to be reckoned with. I admire your drawing ability, both using pencil and digital mediums. While I love anime and manga, I lack the artistic ability to reproduce what my imagination pumps out so I applaud you for your effort.

As for the Lovecraftian influence, well, I've never really thought of it that way but you may be onto something. After all, with today's focus on blood and gore in horror desensitizing today's youth, the only truly scary things that frighten someone are not seen at all.

So, in summary, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year my friend!

Sincerely,
Vodos.

Thank you so much ^^ Your comment has been quite informative. I never thought of using dust clouds and debris. I'm used to seeing it all so dust-free. I got my inspiration for this piece from various Star Wars Battlefront artwork ;D some squeeky clean planets there (aside from Geonisis xD)

Thanks again! ^__^

NuclearJackal In reply to DruidPeter [2014-12-23 00:13:20 +0000 UTC]

Definitely checking out Episode 7. And even if it sucks, I'm used to that xD I wasn't a fan of the Clone Wars CGI Movie for example. More or less every Star Wars fan has their loves and hates about the series xD

But I loves Star Wars Β

DruidPeter In reply to NuclearJackal [2014-12-31 02:06:05 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean! Although I myself was fairly young when the additional 3 prequels came out, haha. I loved The Phantom Menace, although I hear that one was frowned upon by a lot of people. The CGI does seem to be increasing, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Episode 7. At the very least, it's worth a clean shot and appraisal, no?

Sorry for taking so long to respond to this. I feel pretty embarrased that your reply was on the 22nd of december, and my response comes the day before New Year's Eve! Yikes!

Merry Christmas, NuclearJackal, and Happy New year!

Sincerely,
