Awesome tutorial!! I have one question though: how do you put the lightning layer into screen mode? I have Photoshop Elements 7, and I'm not sure how to do it...

In your layers palette, there should be a bar with the word 'normal' in it. It's under that.
Then again, I don't know how different the interface is from Elements 5...

I don't think I have it, sadly... Thanks for your help though! I'll just try experimenting until I find something to replace the process.

Can this be used in a more recent version of photoshop? (adobe photoshop 6.0 elements)

You should be able to. Some of the filters may be different places, but it should.

Oh i already tried it an d it worked. Thank you but do u know how to make it so it isn't just a line of lightning and it branches out? I tried that but they just dissapeared.

Select part of the bolt, right click, then click 'Layer via copy'
Put that layer into 'screen' blending, and you'll be able to move it around where you want it, creating forks.

Oh i found out how to make the layer into 'Screen' blending now I just want to know how to rotate the lightning bolt.

Edit > Free Transform, or press Ctrl + T (Command + T if you're using a Mac)

Ok I got the layer via copy part down, but how do you put the layer into screen blending?
