Maleficent was Disney's most evil villian in my opinion. Unlike some others that were just sort of bad this sorceress called upon the power of hell itself to try to defeat her enemies. You won't see Disney doing that current day believe me.

This is a pose from when Maleficent, after cursing baby Aurora to die from pricking her finger on the spinning wheel, started to form this odd shape before disappearing. The orb over her head is actually what's left showing of her staff as she transforms and vanishes.

It's been a while since I've submitted anything and for good reason. It may not look it, but this took me a long time. I started it last week but with real life issues going on here I wasn't able to concentrate much on it for a few days.
I had the sketch in a few hours, the outline in a day and then *shudders* I had to keep redoing lines over and over on this. The orginal sketch was flawed. I actually ran out of space on paper and not realizing it I compensated by squeezing it into the space avaible. Everything in here aside from the head has been changed, moved, rechanged until it worked. And I still have some tweeking to do...lol.

The background is an altered version of one of my own pieces, that continious line thingy. It sure looks different now huh? I abused the smudge tool...lol.

I need to get past the flat image stage though and somehow improve to include shadows and highlights among other things I know.

I used an orginal sketch from disney as reference on this pose (what good it did me after messing it up so badly) as well as a screen shot from the movie as reference for Maleficent's colors.
I didn't paint disney's sketch, I made my own based of the reference and painted that, just so there's no misunderstanding.
