Oh... not at all.
He's a brilliant graphic artist. Let me see... in the Hollywood world...
He was the production designer for "The Fifth Element".
So that should give you a sense of his creative bent (if you've seen that movie).
His illustration style is very accurate and stunning and his use of color/shading very flat.
It was meant as a great compliment. I love his work... and I love your work too!

I love Besson's work period. He's a great writter. Leon (The Professional) is such a simple but powerful story... of course having the acting talent of Jean Reno and Gary Oldman doesn't hurt...

Moebius also was a production designer/consultant on Alien (the original), The Abyss and a few others. A really interesting artist. And the works I am talking about which your image reminded me of are no where to be seen on the web... I've Googled and don't see them, but the similarity in the styles is instantly recognizable... to me anyway.
