Description
Something I've been working on over the months. 'Cyberchase' is still technically 'running', though it's newest episodes are the lowest form of edutainment garbage. they're REALLY scraping the bottom of the educational barrel, currently. They'll probably be teaching 'Gender studies' next. Primus help us all.Anyway, in response [and pure disgust] I ended up coming up with a followup series called 'Cyberchase: Unleashed!' that takes place when the main characters [Matt, Inez, and Jackie] are adults. The starting premise is that the Hacker has been brought to justice at last and has spent the last few years in Datatraz Prison, meanwhile the Cybersquad has remained as Motherboard's do-gooder task force of sorts and have expanded their ranks to include Slider and Shari Spotter. However, Hacker isn't without a trick or two up his sleeve and plays a new group of unaware young kids into not only setting him free from Datatraz but also unleashing a newer, supposedly more powerful virus at Motherboard -still infected with the old virus; the end result of which being Daughterboard . Its up to the Cybersquad to bring in this new cyberbeing before she turns sour, and the new kids to stop Hacker's latest plan. And the series basically just takes off from there.
As well as character designs, I also have the basic structure of the show sketched out with very clear directions I want the show to go in. There are definitely newer, more mature elements put into this show [naturally, as the original characters have since grown up] but the kid-friendliness is still maintained through it's new Earth-kid characters, basically a basic, stand-alone episode will have the new kids as the focus while more serious episodes throw the older members in there.
As for the Mathematical elements? I suck at math, so I'll have to rely on writers who are good at throwing mathematic concepts into stories without disrupting said stories.
Yes, this is what I've been working on for months now; most of these [save for Digit, Hacker, Buzz, and Delete] are all hand-drawn and then digitally painted over ['cept for Daughterboard and Gadget]
and I've been wondering what exactly I should do with this series concept; should I send it directly to PBS for consideration, or start like a Kickstarter project or something and get the funding I need to hire writers, voice actors, animators etc. [ala 'Swat Kats; Revolution'] then send it to PBS?
UPDATE: With the recent passing of Gilbert Gottfried [Digit's voice actor] I'm not so sure how I'd proceed with getting this thing off the ground, since Digit will still be a major part of the lead cast, and no one I know can really do his voice like Gottfried could. Of course, a replacement VA isn't entirely out of the question, but again, Gottfried's uniqueness is very, very hard to replace.
Its funny, I'd for years been bracing for Christopher Lloyd to pass away before this pitch ever potentially became a thing, considering the very real possibility that he might not be around much longer [he's at least in his 80s] but at least with him, I could potentially see Jim Cummings filling in in his place. But Gottfried? I'm not so sure.
R.I.P. Gilbert, you were truly unique

What are the kid's back stories?🤨
They seem pretty cool and i'd like to know some things about them😊

Three of them [Jane, Dell, and Marcus] are American friends who got tricked into accidentally setting the Hacker free, just like how he'd tricked Matt, Jackie, and Inez into helping him launch the virus, while Reggie was called in from Britain as sort of a wild card.
Their backstories don't really get much deeper than that because that's about the depth of Matt, Jackie, and Inez's

I like the new Cyberchase show's recent seasons (2017 and 2018) and don't have a problem with them; the show's still doing the same science/math education it's always done.
Although I like this concept, I feel as if you're being quite harsh on the show. I don't think that you can get this concept produced independently, as the show's owned by PBS and the animation studio that produces it.

I want to read this! This daughterboard character has me especially interested. Are you saying she's an actual personification of a virus?

In a sense; technically she's more a backup file of Motherboard that's been corrupted by Hacker's new virus. Her evil persona is the virus, but her data-physical form is the backup file

I do feel the same way. I only found the newer episodes a few months back, and I was shocked at how little continuity they showed. Forgot the animation style change--the plots and characters lost substance and depth. Plus, they decided to scrap Ledge after he was on track to be brilliant competition for Hacker and a real thorn in the side of the Cybersquad.
Anyway, I love your idea here. I'd definitely see this if anyone ever decided to pick it up.

Great work on this. I use to watch Cyberchase alot when I was younger. It was one of my favorite shows. I still do like it but I haven't watched it in years. One of the reasons is because I believe the show has gotten kinda of stale. I wish that the creators would have Matt, Jackie and Inez find a cure for Motherboard and end the series.
It is a good series but like I said, it has gotten stale.

I agree with you on the way Cyberchase is headed. The Cyberchase movie--I was expecting better than the mild two-parter. Plus, I don't feel the same joy as I did watching the earlier seasons of Cyberchase.
I like how you created more villains that have a chance to be used more of. I liked Ledge as a villain and was pretty miffed he was only seen twice. I feel like now, if all of the villains you created came together to work under a single force, they could actually stand a fighting chance against the Cybersquad and friends. I think this idea is super fresh for any kid. I love everyone's redesign also.
Since you have Shari Spotter and Slider on your character sheet, will you have more characters like Creech, Jules, etc. if you decided to make more concept art?
Honestly, I think you should do both: make a Kickstarter campaign and get the funding for everything necessary. Then show what you have to PBS for consideration. The show seems likable, and I doubt Cyberchase will turn it down.
Your idea reminds me of what someone tried to do to reboot KNd by turning it into KND: Galactic Kids. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPni6B…
I hope to see more!
