That is a really good planet rendering. From my own experiance, decent planet rendering is the easiest thing in 3D art, great planet rendering isn't too tough, but something like this is just amazing.

This is the best planet render I've ever seen. the way all of the continents are set out is something I've never seen in Tg2. Do you have 2 computers? This is worth a .

Thank you very much. I have one laptop I render on.

Wow, just... wow. This is truly amazing. I know how hard it is to render a planet from space in Terragen and this looks amazing.
Holy shit, 229 hours. I hope that was a dedicated render machine.
Also, for the continents, are the basically flat so they only look good from space? Or is everything viewable from every angle? I've tried to make things look good from the ground all the way out into space, and it never comes out right.
The clouds look amazing.
And I would love to know how to get ice surface layers only to appear in certain regions.
In the end, all I can say is that this render is made of pure winjuice.

Thanks. I wish it was a dedicated render machine too . The continents are made to be viewed from space only. Once you actually enter the atmosphere they don't look that good.
To get the ice, all you have to do is select the "Use Y for slope" check box in the surface layer shader and then select the "Use Planet/Object normal."

I was going to say "it must have taken a while to render", and then I saw 229 hours, haha.
The landscape detail is superb, it looks like a true M-class planet, all the colour and topographical landscape changes are there. My only concern is the noise factor in this render - the icy continents look a bit sharp and stick out compared to the other continents, and the clouds are very thick, with a tint of graininess which the landscape also lacks.
I would say that it would be improved considerably with lighter or less clouds, and making them less thick and grainy. Same goes for the ice continents, although a little more sharpness to the megadiverse continents wouldn't hurt either.
Eitherway, this is a monumental render, approaching impeccable realism, notably on the diverse continents. Working on the other aforementioned factors could truly put this into the realism category though. Good work overall.

Whoa!! 229 hrs?!
It was well worth it. It is perfect in every way.

That is by a long shot, the best TG2 planet I've seen. I was angered for a second thinking "Oh great, someone posted another NASA image of Earth". But you seem to have strong skills in making realistic TG2 planets. must be cool to "own a world" and render it from space, or way down on the surface.
Damn, thats a long render time. I'm not getting that program until they release the final version ( which is supposed to render faster and be easier to use )

Excellent! Great cloud systems, I like the transitions from coast to ocean with the shallow seas, nice touch.
