Description back in 2010 i got my first DSLR..second outing out with that camera i traveled to the magnificent bridal veil falls near index, WA and captured this shot of one of the tiers..

was that shot that made me realize the possibilities were endless, to strive to capture waterfalls from my visions..not the "hey look where i was today" shot..
though i dont think ill ever top that specific shot of this area..thought id pay homage to the place it really started..2 years and three cameras later! ..did use the same lens though

bridal veil falls detail
lake serene trail near index, wa

please dont use my images in any way without my permission..thank you

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-24 05:18:15 +0000 UTC]

she's doing good But she is a stubborn eater.
I still have to feed her and she fights me every
step Yesterday made it 7 days between feedings
(I tried on Sunday too)and could only get her to
eat one little mousey. I don't know if I should
try her again tomorrow, or wait til her normal day.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-24 05:27:22 +0000 UTC]

well its good that she is eating! id wait til its the normal feeding day to try again..she'll come around, dont worry

Thanks a lot for your help Addam.
It's a little nerve-wracking not knowing for sure.
And I don't always trust the internet for some things.
Prefer to have advice from someone that I trust. I can't
always get hold of the breeder.

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-26 03:10:57 +0000 UTC]

definitely know the nerve wracking feature..went crazy when my older female didnt eat for months! if you ever have any questions, ask away..will try to help you the best i can! feeding time for my critters tonight

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-27 02:24:51 +0000 UTC]

OMG! Months???? I don't think I could handle that.
I'd be terrified she was going to be dead next time I looked.
I hate to ask how much you go through with your big 'uns

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-31 02:33:09 +0000 UTC]

yeah.. iwas definitely worried about her when she didnt eat for so long..they can go a crazy long time without food though! weird thing is they dont really eat much when they are pregnant from what ive heard..

the ball python bug uns just have a 1 large rat a piece..but noodle has at least three jumbo ones..any leftovers and is still wanting more! need to get bigger food for him..getting a freezer to put in the garage just for him!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-31 02:42:12 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you told me this, because she is so hard to feed and she will only eat
one small mouse. Even that is a fight.
I'm glad I'm not feeding Noodle

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-31 02:52:37 +0000 UTC]

like a pinky mouse or an actual small mouse? just stick to the schedule..shell eat when she hungry

luckily its not hard at all to feed noodle..he eats everything you put in front of him (as long as its a rodent of course)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-31 02:57:50 +0000 UTC]

The mice I get are frozen newborns. I was thawing out 2 at a time, and one time she ate both. But now she refuses the second, so I have been thawing one at a time. I never know how long to let her go. I don't want her to get sick.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-31 03:42:06 +0000 UTC]

well..unfortunately that is the nature of most snakees..but especially ball pythons. they are binge eaters and will binge then fast..making it hard to keep to a schedule but is nice to have food for them just in case.

a really good article on the feeding habits of ball pythons and what to make sure is good so their eating schedule is "normal"
[link]

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-31 04:10:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for the link! I got so engrossed in reading
it that I almost forgot to come back here
Okay, so they are binge eaters, but how do you tell when they are hungry?
Wait until she tries to eat my finger?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-31 04:26:45 +0000 UTC]

hehe..hope that has most of the answers!

well..is hard to tell when and probably differs from snake to snake..but my big female will raise her head up off the ground..almost making an "S" and hold that position for quite some time! think the "try to bite your finger" technique might be better though

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-31 04:47:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I don't think I like the idea of Liv mowing down on my digits
I'm more concerned because she is so young.
Doesn't she need more when she is growing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-31 05:22:59 +0000 UTC]

their bite really isnt all that bad..have been but 4 times..two by ball pythons..the other two by albino burmese! all were my fault though

not necessarily..general rule is 10-15% their body weight..so in perspective..will need more once they are older! has Liv shed yet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-31 23:22:04 +0000 UTC]

I think she shed just before I got her.
I'm not to worried about her bites. Can't be worse than
cat bites and definitely not dog bites. I've had enough of both those.
Well, I guess as long as she eats one once a week or so, she should be okay?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-11-01 01:05:52 +0000 UTC]

yeah..bites from the ball pythons is less painful than ripping tape off of your skin! first bite i got from a burmese though..smarted a lil bit..the one from noodle..just kind of stared at him and said.. "really..thats all you got?!"

oh yeah, perfectly fine..i was only feeding mine once every two weeks in the beginning..but they would have one small rat instead of mice..think only the first couple feedings were with mice, they move to bigger food quickly. it never looked like they would be able to put the rat into their body..but wow, their elasticity is mind boggling!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-11-02 00:30:54 +0000 UTC]

Looking at Noodle you would think that it would hurt, a lot
I guess I will find out myself at some point, most likely. If not from Liv,
then from another.
I really appreciate all your help and advice Addam. You have really put my mind at rest about some of these things.
The breeder wants me to switch her to rats as soon as possible. They look so big! I think that I might wait until she will at least take them on her own.
