made the trip to mt rainier for the first time this year last weekend. anticipating a day of hiking and waterfalling..became a day of seeing my trails covered in over 10 feet of snow..my main voyage in under 20 with heavy snow falling! unprepared for any hike like that..ventured to the top parking lot hoping the clouds would break. was only for a brief moment but the clouds broke up in the perfect spot for the mountain to reveal itself. despite bad planning..none..enjoyed the drive and took in the sights off the road..such as on of the many runoffs from the glaciers of mt rainier.

mike and i just had to rearrange some plans due to the amount of snow that will still be blanketing crater lake(glad i called the ranger station ahead of time

not sure what i was thinking when i decided to go hiking on the mountain! probably that it wasnt raining..shoulda check the snow report though

yeah, i'll be out there from may 25th-jun 13th...we took crater lake off off the list til next year, when all of the waterfalls within the park will be accessable...plus, there is quite a few along the rogue we are gonna pick up....needless to say i was a little sad..in due time..

hehe..yeah, was a lil eager to get up there i suppose, did entice me to get some snow shoes though, possibly even some actual hiking boots!

Well, now that you have snow shoes, you might as well drive up to Mt. Baker as well!
If you get hiking boots, I recommend waterproof ones. You won't be sorry! lol!

waterproof boots are a definite must..getting old hiking miles back to the car in heavy soaked shoes!

I bought waterproof hiking boots last year and I will NEVER buy anything else!
