There's actually no trick to it -- I just drew them with a bunch of freakin' lines.

Nice!
Beautiful.
And classy.
I could easily see something like that blown up hanging up above a fireplace or something in some rich person's house, lol.

Did you seriously draw all of those wing lines in Illustrator? Impressive and dedicated.

This one, too. It's a work to delight the heart of a pilot.

Delightful. Ok, the story. I flew US Army helicopters back in the 70's [link] . Ever since then dragonflies have been "helicopter bugs" for me (especially when they hover). And here you've gone and made it a jet! I suppose they could be twin turbines to drive the wings; then it would be a "turbine-powered helicopter bug".

LOL this is really good, and has such a strong sense of humour to it.
What makes this particularly funny is not only the jetpack (on an already flight-capable insect ) but the fact that it's moving or facing away; this is a very subtle thing to notice, but it adds so much to the very funny effect.
And I 'Ooh' and 'Ahh' at the minimalism of this, I love that style and this is just about the simplest picture I have seen in a while; and yet, contradicting that there are the dragonfly's unnnnnnbelievably detailed wings!
And once again, you maniac, you have managed to create the mecha-organic hybrid! I salute you and your almighty skill!

Well, what did Elynne call it? "An elegant winged sex toy"? - Which nearly ruined it for everybody... nearly.

I'd try to comment. I'd try to crit, but I can't find anything that needs improvement. You deserve a +fav, because of the shear amount of work that went into this. You deserve a +fav for the concept. You deserve a +fav for the detail and the typography. Okay, enough schmoozing. Take the +fav, already!

That is just BLOODY amazing.
And Illustrator too... Very well pulled off.
I myself am a perfectionist and I cringe at the thought of doing all those uncanny, friggin little lines.
I love how intricate and delicate it looks. So beautifully fragile.
This is just B L O O D Y amazing.

You did all the lines in those wings by hand?
You are some kind of miracle worker, that's insane (And very good too).

I'm in awe as well. Did you do one side and then just flip it? Or did you actually draw each individual wing? O>O

I did two, then mirrored them. I'm not quite crazy enough to do all four. Well... maybe I am, but I didn't.
