Ochotony is based on pikas (Ochotona) and Er Shu ( Chinese: 耳鼠). Er Shu is a fantastic creature from Chinese legend. Its name literally means "Ear Mouse". It is described as a mouselike creature whose body resembles dear and whose head resembles a rabbit. It can fly using its tail.
