Obligatory Zuko practice. For a project.Fuck, I hate drawing him SO MUCH. I don't know why, but he's really hard for me. >__< Praying I won't have to do much with him on the project.

What i figure is the left eye being partially scarred closed, it messes with the expressive capabilities of the eyes, where for him, one eye is open to go through the full range of expressions, the other is either permanently set to half open, or fully closed. I would also see some problems with the eyebrows. Its amazing how little we notice those tufts of hair above the eyes, until we can't use em to show or read emotions. Theres some ease when his hair is up in that knot pre exile and post return, when its back in the ceremonial ponytail/knot but during exile times, his hairs in the way.
I got to agree with everyone else here, though. You nailed him pretty damn well, just about 3 centimeters off dead center. His positive emotions are slightly...goofy, hell, look at CrystalRobots avatar....Case closed. Half those smiles had me thinking he had a perverted thought, a Zuko version of :3. I think it was a point of the animators and artists to make him openly look uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the positive expressions. Whereas the other four of the Avatar team have faces that are easy to make smiley, goofy, and just out right glowing with Sunshine, Zuko is the foil in having a face that has difficulty getting the glow of a candle...with no wick.

That looks exactly like him to me! I'm glad he got some emotions other than anger, sadness, and stuff. He's now a loving and caring guy! I'm glad he doesn't overdo the happy thing.

These are excellent Zuko expressions, though (since Zuko is really hard to draw) I would consider these your weakest ones. I'm not meaning that in a bad way at all, I mean these are amazing! They just wern't your best. But still here is a

You complain, but it's still some of the best Zuko out there, especially the range of emotions you're able to capture. Heck, I'm going to reference this right now for my own art.

Haha...I can tell you have a hard time drawing him. He doesn't look as...spot-on as, say, how you drew Katara and Sokka. xD Why is he so difficult, I wonder? I have a hard time drawing him too...

For me, I think it's the combination of his facial structure, hair, and that goddamned scar that messes up my symmetry. He has Sokka's long, rectangular face, but his cheekbones are higher, and his chin is bigger. >__<; And he's never friggin HAPPY. And when he is, he just looks ridiculous. >_>
Whatever. I give up on this guy. x_x

Haha. I agree with you for the most part. And he looks kinda creepy when he's happy. Second season, when he'd just recovered from being sick and was drinking soup or tea or something...*shudder*
