I was drafted to create the poster for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a play we're doing at school...this is the main graphic; I'll replace it with the finished product...when I feel like it. XPAlso, I swear to Goddess if ANYONE so much as utters one word about how my style looks like Tim Burton's....I'll...I'll...I'LL EXPLODE THEIR HEAD! ...I'll do it. I will.

I love this! Have recently read the book and i think you've capturedthe essence of the characters really well.
You've got Dr Jekyll so seems quite young and happy and innocent (and normal) and then the Mr Hyde kinda sneaking up on him ( i get the impression from the book that Dr Hyde wasn't sure what his potion would do and that Mr Hyde kinda sneaked up on him). Also Mr Hyde looks kinda evil and a bit unhinged.
You can also see the similarities between the two which adds to the idea that they're both the same and different all at once.
The curls on Hydes coat and hair give him a kinda spooky look too.

Oh, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! I am currently reading the book, and your drawing, with it's suitable style for the subject, gives me the same feeling as the book, meaning you've potraited the charackter pretty well. And you did this for the play? Then may I ask a question: could you give me some general information about it, and tell me your personal likings surrounding it? (Our school sets up plays every year, and I would like to play this one but are unsure if it will be to my class sorrow, to be honest.)

As for the play, I dunno, it really depends on how strong of actors you have. Jekyll is a really hard character to portray well, and there's murder and the likes in the story, as well as whores.
It was relatively successful at our school, and very fun, though I wasn't in the cast.
Costuming is really hard too. xD
But if you and your school likes the story, go for it! It's a fun challenge.

This is an amazing piece, and I'm definitely faving it. However your style doesn't look like Burton's.... it looks like Jhonen Vasquez's. And "Explode their heads" is a quote from JtHM. Coincidence?

I am not a fan of Jhonen's. Exploding heads are not HIS creation. He just got very popular with it. Just like the spooky, curly style isn't Burton's creation, he just made it popular. If we really want to split hairs, Edward Gorey was one of the first to use the style.
I'm glad you like my art, but please don't compare me to Jhonen; I really want to be published by SLG, and being like Jhonen is a death sentence for any SLG hopefuls.

Actually your style reminds me more of the little illustrations from A Series of Unfortunate Events.
That's a really neat pic, though. I love the expressions, especially Hyde's little curly smirk.

Wow... this is insane... !! I don't draw or do graphic arts... so I really can't offer any helpful thoughts... just to say as a normal everyday viewer of art... I have enough sense to know when something exhibits talent & this really does. Nice!

Heh, yes, it's definately something to be protective about. There's a great deal of nudity in it, and besides that it's rather disturbing. Acid trip on film in black and white. Yup.
Danny plays satan though! And the Mystic Knights are in it as well. It's directed by his daddy...and his sister's in it as Frenchie. You really ought to see it once you get out of the house.^^

Excellent piece, though. I like the way Mr. Hyde looks; just that crazy look in his face is so well done. It kind of makes me think that Mr. Hyde is hiding in Dr. Jekyll's shadow (Or is, if you look at it that way). Very nice piece.

Nice. I especially like the look of the one in the back (I think it's Mr. Hyde but I can never remember), he looks so incredibly insane and twisted but happy at the same time.
I like how you did the minute details using the pen as well, especially to outline the black-on-black to make it stand out. It looks very smooth the way you did it.
Doesn't look too Tim Burton to me. It looks very much your own.
