Description Heya, gang. I was recently asked for a tutorial on how I paint fingernails, so I put this one together. This was made in Photoshop Elements with a tablet.

I'm not saying this is the only way to do it - it's just my personal method. Hope it's helpful.

Hey, thanks. I still have trouble with them - but I've been refocusing on hands lately, and trying to get them more anatomically correct.

no way man. THIS is how you paint fingernails:

step 1: wash hands
step 2: apply base coat in broad even swipes
step 3: apply polish
step 4: apply top coat.
step 5: show off nails to all of the fancy lads.

Excellent job! That finger looks very realistic; you've even gotten some skin texture in there. Thanks for sharing that with us; it's always nice to see someone who's an excellent artist share their knowledge on how to render nicely (because there are some stuck-up artists out there who won't tell you beans about how they get their art done).

You are very welcome, and I know I will find your tutorial helpful--I've been teaching cartooning to kids for years--but now I'm exploring a different style--I have SO much to learn! I'm grateful for your help. (grin)
