Description
A bit of perspective practice with our favorite fanatic policeman. Inspector Javert from Victor Hugo's Les MisΓ©rables, mostly based on the musical adaption. There is something terribly wrong with his right arm, but I can't quite put my finger on what... Maybe I've been staring at it too long.

I'm glad to help alleviate the annoyances of Monday. Javert makes everything better.

Oh my! I had this exact same problem with a picture I drew!! (I wanted Javert with his cudgel on his shoulder) It's kind of hard to describe, but the best way to see what the problem is, is to recreate this pose yourself. Grab something long (chopsticks or a bat) and do the pose. From what I see either the arm is at a bad angle or the hand is in the wrong perspective. I always do this for hands because I swear those things were against me from the start
Hope this helps!!

Oh ho, you're right, it is the hand, not the arm! Dang, it's always the hand, darn fiddly things... Thanks for the suggestion! (I find it hilarious that your chosen examples were a bat and chopsticks )

I swear they're after you! Hey, hey! The only thing I have on my desk long enough were chopsticks

They're quite useful to have, but exceedingly difficult to render.
Yes, but it's still hilarious. (...and might spawn a doodle...

What would Javert do with chopsticks?

Goodness! What would he do?
I guess if provoked, he could use them as weapons; a nice jab in the eye could work like The Stooges XD Oh my. If I don't stop now, I will come up with a whole book on "Other Uses for Chopsticks"

Eeee, Javert! He always looks so amazing when you draw him, very badass!
I don't think the arm's terribly wrong. Actually, if you didn't say it's the right arm (my eyes skipped that part and I compared the arms, trying to figure which might be wrong) I wouldn't be able to tell which one is wrong!

I thought it only proper to start the chain of traditional sketches with him.
I did mess with it some in Photoshop, so it's not as bad as it was, but it still just doesn't seem right.
