Lots of really nice touches. I was planning yet another attempt at the old Scout ship, I never quite managed to capture the essential character quite as successfully as you have here.

Thanks!
But as I said above, I was seeing farther because I was standing on the shoulders of giants. That is, I learned by looking at the circa 1980 Traveller artwork of Type S Scouts by the famous Traveller artists.

You know, I actually like this better than your final textured version.  Go figure

Oh, texturing is a difficult art, and it is easy to ruin somethings. Sort of like when word processor came out with zillions of fonts. Suddenly a letter written by a novice looked like a ransom note with letters clipped out of a magazine.

Very true, but there's just something about the clean look of this that I really like.  If you've seen magmagmag's rendition of the Type-S at the COTI art archive, you'll note that his version looks like a freshly washed starship.  Something akin to hosing down a Cessna and putting on display in the hangar.

Excellent model

This and the System Defense Boat from the "Traders and Gunboats" supplement were my two favorite Traveller ship designs.  Fingers crossed you'll tackle that project in the sometime near.

We'll see. It is on my list, but not at the top. Before it is the insect-eyed Type T patrol ship.

Sounds good.  As a long-time follower of your artwork I look forward to seeing the Patrol Ship.  Given the Type S Scout and the SDB, my "third" is the Empress Marava 200 ton Far Trader.  That ship had some neat lines and a unique design.

I have a stalled project to do a cut-away view of a Broadsword mercenary cruiser

WOW! Looks amazing, even if "stalled".

Is it OK if I point the "Spinward Traveller" movie people at your iris valves, so they know what they can look like?

Please do!
Though a more logical iris design is the one from The Empire Strikes Back. When Luke is clinging to the bottom of the Cloud City of Bespin, the Millenium Falcon rises up. Lando opens the top iris hatch in order to get Luke. That iris has petals that butt against each other, instead of overlapping.

One of the better models of this I've seen in decades.

Why, thank you , sir!
But this model got refined as it is by my standing on the shoulders of giants, e.g., Drell-7, Arcas-art, et al.
