And what is it about scanner these days? My first scanner was fantastic when it came to color, the scanner/printer I have now eats the color. O_o I thought technology was suppose to advance.

I know! My old scanner did fine.
And now this one makes everything I draw look ugly.

I think the problem now is it's nearly impossible to find a simple scanner. Now it seems all they carry is the printer/scanner or the printer/scanner/fax combo. I think that's part of the quality issue.
