Description
My Digital Painting of Howl and Calcifer.
I just read the book, Howl’s Moving Castle, and it was wonderful! Definitely a new favorite (Haven’t seen the movie yet). Anyways, this is how I imagined them as I read the book. I imagined Calcifer as an adorable, beautiful and terrifying creature. A hard mix to try to imagine, but the Cheshire cats eyes and mouth were similar to what I was visualizing.
Only reference photo used was the Cheshire Cats features. Everything else was completely from imagination.
I love these characters

Fantastic job! I really love how Howl's sleeves came out. I always have trouble trying to design his clothes, the trailing sleeves with scalloped edges always come out rather feminine in my sketches. That's a great pose and expression for Howl too, it captures his personality from the book quite well. The skull and spell papers are a nice touch, and of course a blue-green Calcifer is always worth a thumbs up!

Wow, thank you! I am blessed to hear I captured them well Yes, I love his sleeves, and it was a bit fun to try and figure out how to make them magnificent, while remaining somewhat masculine. Although, his costume was described as flamboyant, haha, so of course I had to add some sparkle.
