Description
Whilst the Imperial Realm is ruled over, and run by, Elves, the majority of it's population are Humans. They make up the bulk of it's labour force, fill out the ranks of it's armies and do all the tasks their Elven masters are deemed too important to concern themselves with.
Though they might be considered by many outsiders to be the oppressed slaves of their Elven overlords, the Human citizens of the Empire seem quite contented with their lot.
The Humans of the Imperial Realm are descended from the tribes of man that allied with the Imperial Elves when they first began their conquest. As the occupation of conquered lands turned into governing territory, the humans embraced their role in the growing empire, working as hard as any of it's peoples to bring about the dream of a United and Peaceful Realm.
On average their quality of life is higher, they enjoy more freedoms than humans in more feudalistic neighbouring kingdoms, and they live longer. And whilst it is true that no Human might ever become Emperor, particularly gifted men and women have risen high in the Empire's ranks, and most see it as their duty to help keep the Imperial Realm strong, healthy, and peaceful.
However most is not all, and the history of the Imperial Realm has been dotted by instances of human rebellion, usually in times of hardship or when conquered client kingdoms have not been suitably pacified.
To many these occasions are a blot on the proud human legacy and contribution to the Imperial Realm, but to others they are a sign that the Humans have, and may again, rise against their Elven masters.
