Description
Recently a good friend of mine died. I'd known her for over 20 years. I've been able to accept her death easily because she was in great pain her whole life and now she is free. Her passing nonetheless has been on my mind a great deal.Every religion has some concept of rebirth, from a ressurection of the human body to reincarnation. Even an atheist cannot deny the very literal rebirth of the whole "circle of life." All life when it ends becomes part of another in some way. I chose the traditional Biblical (and i know many other religions) symbol of the Tree of Life to represent the cycle of death and rebirth, both in a spiritual sense and the literal sense of a tree getting sustinence from the Earth, to which all life eventually returns, and from the sky, to which all water, the basis of life, eventually returns.
12" x 18"
Watercolours and india ink on watercolour paper.

Love to read the storys behind your work!
They sure add to the paintings! Although it's a sad story this time, it's not a sad painting.
You can see that her death was a releave for her!
Very well done!
