Description
(1-12)Doctor Who art, inspired by the season (series) 3 episodes, "Human Nature" and "The Family of Blood", in which the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones are hiding out in 1913, at an English boarding school, to avoid a very determined enemy.
I actually saw a few episodes of season 3 a while before I went back to catch up from the beginning, and these were the ones that made me sure I was going to like the series. As a result, I got very attached to Martha without ever having to go through resenting her for not being Rose. And "Human Nature" was such an interesting character study for Martha, as she had to fit herself into a society full of sexism, racism, and rigid classes without help from the Doctor - and she did it with dignity, kindness and compassion. Unfortunately I haven't seen much love for Martha in the fandom, but I think she's wonderful.

I pitied Martha's role in this episode. She had to undergo a lot of daily humiliations based on her gender and race, to protect the Doctor.
I'm glad she became her own person in the end.

Very pretty, atmospheric picture. This makes me want to watch the series! I love the pensive expressions. The Doctor just... *glows* against the murky background, and the comet (? or IS it?) looks really awesome.

The two-parter episode this is based on is one of my favorites, and actually is a good introduction to what the series is all about, if you're interested in watching one just to get a feel for it *hint hint*.

Ooooh, I think I shall take that hint at the first opportunity. It's nice to have a recommended 'jumping-off' point! I've actually seen a nice smattering of older episodes -- Damian and I were watching them, back in Pittsburgh, because I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. So I've seen... maybe 2 or 3 eps of the 10th Doctor? But one story sequence with the first Doctor, one with the Second, one with the Third (I think? Or maybe the Fifth?), one or two stories and several standalones with the Fourth, and... hm. I'm sure I saw something else with a later Doctor, but maybe I never saw anyone beyond the Fifth!
Tenth Doctor is just so NICE, though. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in action!

She's such a great character. I love the other companions too, but I find it an interesting change to have somebody who starts out confident and ambitious, as opposed to Rose and Donna who both kinda grow into their potential as a result of spending time with the Doctor.

Yeah, I think I'm one of the few people who actually liked Martha's unrequited crush. I kinda thought it gave her a nice flaw to relate to - she's so smart and super gorgeous but she still has the bad luck to fall for a guy (or, you know, 900 year old Timelord) who's busy pining for someone else. I think a lot of people have suffered the unnoticed crush. I have. ... Not just with regards to Ten. But that too.
