Okay, I've been dying to see this since I first saw the Batman animated series. If they can have every hero ever in the Justice League, why not the Shadow? The greatest hero of all time! But nope, it never happened.
But I want to MAKE it happen. Maybe I will.Anyway, these are a small sample of the many sketches I've done about it.
Top left, Margot Lane vs Batgirl
Top right, Margot and Lamont Cranston in Gotham
Middle left, Batgirl vs the Shadow (she fails)
Middle right, Batgirl has been hypnotized by the Shadow so Batman calls Zana to help, um, UNhypnotize her
Bottom left, Batman vs the Shadow (watch out, Batman! he might shoot you!)
Bottom right, This is Bruce Wayne meeting Lamont Cranston and Margot Lane. Lamont is kinda like Bruce Wayne in many ways. Competition?? It's colored because I'm experimenting with easy ways to colo stuff so if I DO turn this into a comic, I won't die in front of my computer.
DOES ANYONE EVEN KNOW WHO THE SHADOW IS??

Actualy you have that backwards, Lane. Bruce is kinda like Lamont, The shadow debuted as a magazine in 1931 though his name was Kent Allard then, his radio show stared in 197 so even if you just go by the radio's character of Lamont Cranston he still 2 years older then Bruce. Also there is no T in Margo. Still Good art work.

I wish these 2 characters could meet somehow, or maybe even fight, reconcile their differences and then team up against a mutual enemy. That would be the most epic thing ever!

if i remember corectly, there was a living knife in it, that almost killed the shadow in the beginig, but what about the Phantom, he was awsome(especialy at the end of th movie, i actualy have a 4th skull ring around here somewhere)

That was only in the movie though and my love of the Shadow dos not come from that, who don't get me wrong I like the movie but I love the old radio show more.

The rights regarding the Shadow are tangled mess from my understanding, which would explain why he didn't show up on JLU.
Of course B:TAS did pay some homage to The Shadow and the other great pulp heroes with The Gray Ghost [link] )

There were actually a couple of Batman/The Shadow crossover comics, back in the day. There's also a whole lot of evidence that Batman was directly inspired by The Shadow. I really love the way you've translated him into this style!

Actually he was one of the influences for batman even Bill Finger one of the co creators of Batman publicly acknowledged the his first Batman script was a take-off on a Shadow story. Even after Batman developed in to his own person the influence is still there though I think you only notes it if your familiar with the Shadow.

Actually, I'm putting a fancomic together where the Scooby gang meets The Shadow in his day (1940s) to solve a mystery in Russia during the war.

I've heard of the Shadow and know bits and pieces but now you've got me wanting to read teh books, see the movie, and even listen to the radio shows. Great pics! Are there more?

Not scanned, unfortunately. I've done huge amounts of Batman and Shadow sketches but I just haven't gotten around to scanning them. Busy with school and work. I'll have to put them up eventually, though!

I never got to follow the shadow series, though he always seemed really cool. I saw ads for the movie back when it first came out, and my parents were excited about it, and then I played the videogame on NES

they're also supposed to be making a new green hornet to, kado's already cast
but the time for a shadow movie is now, with the superhero movies on the rise, and with witch ever comes first, we may see more detective-heroes from the '40s being made into movies
oh, and the reason the shadow didn't get into the justice league is that he is owned by dark horse, if I'm not mistaken

I think you're right! I do have some old comics (called Shadow of the Bat) where Batman and the Shadow meet up and they're DC, but maybe the owners cooperated? You should read them if you haven't. It's a great deal of fun seeing them yell at each other!

well, if I recall, the shadow had a comic that came out for the 1994 movie, I think that was dark horse... yep hear it is
"Dark Horse Comics published three mini-series based on the character, include an adaptation of the 1994 movie. The comic I have is the second one down in the main section. They even scanned it so you can read it. Looks like it's DC.
I don't have the ones based on the movie, I need to keep my eyes open for those! The ones I have are like these random ones and then I have all the Dark Horse ones that were done in the 80's. The really gritty ones where he has uzi's instead of .45s.

lol yaaaaay. yes, most people know him from his radio show. in fact, that's how I got into it. and then I was like "whoa there are pulps and comics and movies too!" Yay, I'm glad someone knows. ^_^
