Description
Just a simple sand hair tutorial!DISCLAIMER: I do NOT claim this to be realistic or anatomically correct, I only mean to share my way of drawing sand hair c:
1:
Start by drawing drippy-type lines
I draw goop hair and sand hair very similarly;
but I draw sand hair more "stringy" / the drips thinner
2:
OPTIONAL
If needed, you can draw a general sketchy outline of the shape of the hair you want,
then go back and line the outline of your hair
3:
Draw your general outline
4:
After your general outline, go back and add smaller "drip" lines throughout the hair
Tip: Don't make it too crowded, just enough to give the hair a flow and texture
5:
OPTIONAL
If you find that your hair is too bulky, or there aren't enough drips,
go back and add some!
6:
Add broken lines and dots to create a small "sand stream" effect
7:
Add small dots inside your base hair outline; it will add texture similar to grains of sand
This step is the most important, in my opinion! it really helps separate goop hair from sand hair
Side tip: Try to make the dots as random and as spread out as possible! I personally find it helps the over all look of the grains
8:
Color as normal!
9:
Color the lines a darker shade of the same color!
I personally always color my lines, as I feel it helps the flow of the over all pieces, but I especially recommend it for sand hair!
10:
For shading and high lighting, I follow the curves of the lines that I made
I also add "dot" shading and highlights, to add more grains!
