Description
First serious attempt at watercolours, ever. Learned a lot about what not to do, it isn't a particularly good painting but it's getting there, it'll probably get deleted eventually in a purge but, in the meantime here it is.Related content

Keep it! I like it. It's soft and smooth, and reminds me of a picturebook.

It's pretty! The colours are strange, but you knew that. Ever notice how if you say something passable is terrible, everyone instantly goes "OMG IT'S AMAZING"? It's pretty much guaranteed.
I am amused.

Yeah, with watercolours I generally aim for a theme colour, I was going to do blue with this one instead, would that have been better do you think?

Well, my main problem with the colours is just that the water looks really sludgy.
Also; I like the faint glow around the swan (I know it probably wasn't intentional, but it's a fairly common optical illusion so it works really well) except that it's too wide around the beak.
... that's everything non-obvious thing I could think of to say about this.

I was thinking of a pond in England when I painted this, where the water was kinda murky, I agree about the beak, though.

That's still pretty gross looking water, though. Euwgh. Poor swan.

this is true, I guess the problem is when I'm thinking of painting I just get something from my mind/memory and I don't look at how other people will see it. It just goes from minds eye to the paper and I don't think about what I'm doing.

Well, that's generally a good thing, actually. Guess it just backfired in this case.

I think you did a pretty nice job, despite what you may think
I really think the swan looks good, and the water in the foreground looks awesome. I fail at painting water.... okay, I fail at painting.

No you don't! Your art is awesome and you have so much talent, if you are having problems painting it was clearly shitty instructions at LEAP. Clearly that art teacher is to blame.
But thank you.

XD No, honestly, I avoid painting like the plague most of the time and never do it. My talent lies in graphite.
And you're welcome. ^_^

Hmm... I think... if you put something nonsenical in the lower half of the page, this would make an incredible surreal pic XDD
Very good for first try. I suck ass at water colours. But the horizon showing through the trees is what made me think of that surreal thing.
Very nice on waves textures.

What would you suggest that I add?

I don't know, maybe some clouds in the water and roots coming out of them or something weird like that? *shrug*

Why thank you, but it isn't the first I've ever done just my first one that I tried at.
