Ok! So. Took a few days off this week, so I finally had some time to sit down and do something that's been requested numerous times, but I haven't really had the time to sit and work on. This is the first sequential work I've done since 2007, and it should provide a bit of an explanation that bridges the gap between regular Sheeri and MegaSheeri (as she's been fan-tagged a few times). Basically the shift between forms is the result of the years of training that she would've undergone in order to wear the Helm of Artias, and her alt form is something she calls upon when needed. This strikes a good balance between two camps of Sheeri fans: those who like her traditional form, and those who prefer her megaform. EVERYBODY WINS I AM A GENIUS. Anyhow, now there's a bit of baseline info to fall back on whenever people wonder just what in the hell is going on, which is often.ΒShe still looks adorable in frame one though, huh?

Now that you've fleshed out the details I'd like to ask a few questions that I've wondered about since you were doing your regular comic.
Are all the members of this church females and if so, why?
What is their religion based on, what do they believe?
Do they live like nuns, cloistered and with vows of celibacy? Or does their religion permit them to live in houses, marry and pursue intimate relationships?
Have you considered bringing back Shanduri, perhaps in the role of a mentor to Sherri?
Does Shanduri follow the Path of the Protector too?
Do all priestesses follow one of these paths?

- Urusai society is an interesting study in gender roles; of the three societal factions, the Church is exclusively staffed by females, the military exclusively by males. The third faction (the Crystal Science Academy) is where either and any may serve. This three-way split provides balanced perspectives on matters of state.Β
- Nezrahi is the prime diety of Urusai society, which is monotheistic. To abbreviate their theology, Nezrahi elevated the Urusai from their feral state through the guidance of the Crystal Council, a group of seven sentient crystalline monoliths that reside in a temple that hovers high above their capital city. Typically Nezrahi is depicted as a nebulous body of light of indeterminate shape; because Nezrahi appears to lack any distinct form or distinguishing characteristics, he/she is used interchangeably when referencing their creator depending on the proclivity of the speaker, though the Church formally recognizes Nezrahi as a genderless being.
- Most priestess duties require some degree of access to the temple, but their lives are not restricted as such so long as they hold true to their values and their message wherever they go. In New Urus, almost all priestesses reside at the temple complex (a bit like Vatican City), but others who are married and have families may live in separate housing elsewhere. Celibacy isn't a concept the Church endorses; on the contrary, priestesses are encouraged to marry and produce many children, as life and the promise of life are sacrosanct.Β
- Shanduri and Aylia are both factors in Sheeri's development, yes.Β
- Shanduri follows the Path of the Redeemer. Β
- Only one priestess of each path serves at a time, acting as physical embodiments of their respective disciplines. Sheeri and Shanduri are Protector and Redeemer respectively, and deep within the temple complex, another serves as Restorer.Β

So the Protector gains physical sise and strength, I assume the Restorer has healing powers but no physical change, what does a Redeemer get?
Origainly, you had Artias as a member of the Eltrius Palatini, the Chuch's militant branch. Are these new roles all part of this section of the church or do all prestess have these powers?

Redeemers basically gain heightened speed and reflexes as well as the ability to wield specific offensive weaponry unique to the discipline. The three specific roles are essentially what could be equated to a special forces unit within the Church; other priestesses may have other fighting, defensive, or healing abilities, but only within normal tolerances. The three Path disciplines are far beyond these, diving well into the superhuman realm.Β

I'm not a glory hog but I would appreciate a note of thanks and I'd do not appreciate it when people take sole credit for something that others have contributed to.
(I am not saying this to be funny I am genuinely upset.)
Now for my thoughts on the work itself, keeping in mind that these are just my opinions and this is your work. I apologise in advance if I sound negative and critical.
Overall I think it's very good, your overall drawing has improved a great deal since your early days. I'm excited by the thought of Sherri taking on this role. It's very good you've added some back story, you kept the crystals but given them a new, and better defined meaning. Also, her focus is "the path to power," it sounds like there are other disciplines to this power. What are they? What do they do? Why did Sherri choose this one? Can a sufficiently trained priestess use more than one?
The 60 seccond thing, is that the maximum rate for all priestesses or is because she's a novice? Taking a whole minute to bulk up would make emergency response very difficult but on the other hand would also add tension to the story.
You clearly thought out the rules of her powers, like the recharging from prime crystal. (Which incidentally, sounds like a nod to the Greenl Lanterns.) Personally I don't think recharging should take a solid WEEK of meditation to recharge, that just seems way too long. Especially since the power only lasts for about a month,Β priestesses would spend almost as much time recharging as protecting. If you really want to stick with a week of meditation maybe you could make the power last longer? Perhaps a year? I think that would better justify it.
I've trained as a writer myself so I know how important it is to clearly define a character's powers, how they work and what their limitations and weaknesses are. An all-powerful hero is just too powerful for the sake of the story. At the same time, if a power has to many weaknesses or takes a long time to get ready then people might start to wonder if it's actually worth it.
Also, why doesn't Sherri grow taller? Again, the choice is yours but part of what I really liked about muscled Sherri was how tall she was. If she stays at the same height as her petite form option might look rather strange.
I agree, there's no reason whatsoever that this kind of transformation should affect her bust but to be perfectly frank, that's another part of her transformation I really liked.
By the way, you sure you want to refer to this order of priestesses as "the church"? Because when people hear that they think of Christianity and not something else.
One last thing, since you're working two jobs now and you feel you don't have a lot of time to draw, have you considered writing prose instead? Instead of a comic you could draw one page with document containing a story attached to it. Do you think that might save you time?

I didn't think anyone would take it seriously because it was IN ALL CAPS which as everyone knows is internet shorthand for 'idiot'; sorry if the self-deprecation was misunderstood. I didn't particularly think this would be an issue since I assumed pretty much everyone on DA reads the comments, but I see where you're coming from.Β
On to the other inquiries:
- The Path of the Protector is one of three disciplines: Protector, Redeemer, and Restorer. Restorer is obvious as it focuses on healing and various subdisciplines, Protector is focused on defense of the innocent, and if Protector is best described as the Church's shield, Redeemer is its sword, actively combating threats. Sheeri chose Protector because of the influence of Andrah's example of nonviolence, and her own general non-aggressive tendencies ruled her out of consideration for Redeemer. Restorer requires far greater age and experience, so typically only senior priestesses begin this path in mid-life.Β
- 60 seconds is a rough estimate, but skill does shorten the time it takes. Changing under stress or adverse conditions can add to the time it takes depending on the mental constitution of the indvidual. A week of meditation isn't a solid, 24/7 week; the process for a full charge (as you noted, similar to GL) takes a week of daily meditation interspersed with rest and relaxation (approximately eight hours of all three, balance is a key component). It's a bit like taking a week of vacation every six months or every three weeks or however often you have to go depending on how quick you burn your batteries out. It's a full-time commitment; traditionally priestesses who underwent these disciplines would reside at the Church, but Sheeri's case is unique.Β
- As far as height increase and the lack thereof, taller forms tend to be intimidating and I wanted her to remain approachable. Bustline was the other aesthetic call; even in fantasy there has to be some realistic boundaries to tether it to the everyday.Β
- The Church is shorthand for the Church of Nezrahi; I'm not too concerned about what people think as far as religion goes. Religious perspective is a Rorschach test that I don't particularly care to analyze.
- Drawing and writing for me take inordinately large amounts of time; drawing a page with a text document attached would take twice as long to do as simply doing the comic. Two jobs is just the way it has to be in America these days; welcome to the modern economic realities of the dwindling middle-class.Β

What does a Redeemer do?
Personally I found that the idea of her becoming taller and larger as well as stronger was really attractive to me and I'd be really sorry to see it go before it ever officially came. And I think there are others who would agree, there are plenty of artworks showing Sherri not only strong but tall at the same time.
Being big can initially be intimidating but that can be overcome. Plenty of fans like Andrah and she's a giant of a woman, you just said yourself she sets an example of nonviolence.
If you want to consider a more practical reason, the role of protector is defending the defenceless. Wouldn't being physically big and visually intimidating be a big help?

Nah, ALL CAPS is internet shorthand for idiot because typically those who type in all caps are nutballs. That's why when you see forum posts such as 'WHY IS MY BLUD ELF SO PREDDY' its either satire, sarcasm, or a legitimately backwards individual behind the keyboard.Β
In regards to Sheeri's dimensions, one thing I don't want to do is have too many characters with too similar builds. Andrah is already tall, Lindy is stacked, Pierce is slim, etc. I mean, at the end of the day, the nature of her abilities means I don't ever have to say never, but for the sake of diversity I'm going against the grain on this. The last thing I want to do is have a cast of characters that tower over normal society; in my estimation tall characters should be the exception, not the rule. As I stated elsewhere, Andrah is still the alpha amazon around these parts, so she gets the benefit of enhanced elevation.Β
Redeemers are offensive warriors of the Church; though their original purpose was to actively seek out and destroy heretics, these days they're primarily used as a balancing factor against Urusai military forces, which are a separate entity. Not that the two sides are actively engaged in conflict, but to assure the separation of Church and State both factions have their own standing forces to make assimilating the other in a coup or rebellion a difficult if not impossible prospect.Β
