I love the green.
Also, his eyes look so pretty! And I love how you paint his scarf. So rich, and with such nice shadows in the folds.

You seriously have a talent for capturing Colin Morgan! His hair in this reminds me of his new season 3 do. I know I say this all the time, but excellent work!

Thank you.
I wasn't very keen on this painting, as for some reason it didn't look like Merlin to me...but then someone pointed out that it's actually a painting of Colin Morgan rather than Merlin...and they are totally right.
As reference for it I used a random Photo of Colin I found on the internet and changed him into Merlin's clothes and lost the stubble...but he's not "in character" in the photo so it still looks like Colin.
I don't know how recent the photo was. It might well be recent season 3 period.

You know...that's kind of a tribute to how well you can paint from photos. You were able to paint so realistically that people could even tell that it looked more like a Colin Morgan-picture than an in-character Merlin picture. Nice.

I hadn't thought of it that way. I'd just thought of it as a Merlin-FAIL
Yeah, that sounds better the way you put it.

I like the green background, and how you can see the texture of the canvas coming through in the bottom corner...great work! 8D

Thank you. (Yes, I do like that colour green, I think it's one of my favourite colours.)

This is really great. I think it's one of your best pieces to date! (sorry for the rhyming, hee) The likeness is spot on, and as always the textures are awesome. Are you pleased with it?

Thank you so much.
Funnily enough...I don't actually like this one that much. I'll be interested to see what people think of it, as so often the ones I really like aren't that popular, and the ones that I'm not sure have worked that well seem to go down really well.
(Which is kind of a win/win situation, since if I'm pleased with it, I'm happy, but if someone else likes it, I'm also very happy. So... )

I asked because I got the impression you weren't that happy with it!
I've found the same with work I have done too, usually because the work I like has been a struggle to create. (The end results are not always as good but I feel i've invested/learnt more.)
Either way, this a great piece .
