Thank you so much, that's such a nice thing to say.
(I wish I could speak another language, but I'm rubbish. I can read and understand a bit of French, and I've been trying to teach myself Old English, (the language that Merlin says his spells in), but I'm not great at it.)

WOW~ Old English! That sounds really hot when Merlin said it. In fact, that idea came to me before. But I had given up even before I started... Learning the mordern English is still a long journey for me, so I don't have the confidence to learn something that difficult.(Considering how much effort I put in when I studied Old Chinese...)
So wish you get some progress in your studying French and Old English~ And maybe one day we could discuss our feelings about learning French~(since I might give it a shot one day..)
And looking forward to your new painting~~~

Sorry for the huge delay in replying, real life getting in the way unfortunately.
I really don't know WHY I'm perservering with the Old English to be honest...it's not like there's a huge amount of classic literature written in it, so it's all a bit pointless... But...it's just taken my fancy so...
You were trying to learn Old Chinese? Now THAT I would imagine is a lot more difficult.
Ah, no, I'm not trying to learn French now. I did six years of it at school and came out of it with a French O'Level. I've forgotten virtually all of it now.
I don't have the money to go abroad on holiday, and if you know you aren't going to use the language it all seems a bit of a waste of time.

No need to be sorry~ I'm glad you replied.
Actually, if it's not that Old English is too hard to learn, I'd tried it. So there is no need to doubt the motive of learning it~
And by the way, since I'm from China, Old Chinese is a prescribed course in our school,so... it's still not as difficult as Old English for me.
Oh... about holiday, it's really lucky that you speak English you know? Even not for now, but when you got a chance to go abroad on a holiday, you can use English in most countries! That is so convenient!! So~ if you don't have the motive to learn other language, just follow your heart and learn something you like~
I even considered learning Latin for Supernatural! Those spells are so cool!Sometimes we learn something just for fun right?~

That's very interesting. I don't know if western languages even have the same sentence structure as Chinese. Do you have the nominative, accusative and dative clauses? I don't know.
Yeah, I've got to admit, English is a great first language. It's just so handy to be able to watch all the American films and series and understand them.
I love Supernatural, and Latin is cool...I can SO see why you might be drawn to learn that.
As you say, sometimes it's fun just to learn something because you want to.

Tonightlove In reply to ObsidianSerpent [2011-11-14 15:04:23 +0000 UTC]
Yes! Of course we do! In fact if you started learning some foreign language, you would find that the whole world seemed like sharing a similar structure. For example, "I like you." The nominative "I" is "我" in Chinese, the accusative "you" is "你", and I really don't know what dative clauses are, but I'm pretty sure all kinds of grammar are similar. And if you got some interests in learning Chinese one day, I would be so happy to help~

ObsidianSerpent In reply to Tonightlove [2011-11-14 19:44:01 +0000 UTC]
We don't really use the dative clause in English, which is why I find German and Old English and languages where they do use the dative a bit difficult to get the hang of.
(I find it hard to decide which bit is the dative and which bit is the accusative.)
I'd LOVE to learn Chinese, but I am SOOOOO rubbish at languages that I fear you would die of old age before I ever got anywhere at all.
I heard somewhere that Chinese has many words that sound the same, however what they mean all depends on how low or high you pitch your voice. Is that right?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Tonightlove In reply to ObsidianSerpent [2011-11-15 05:43:53 +0000 UTC]
XD I think I got the same confusion you got. Actually, when you first mentioned this dative to me, I searched for the definition of it on the Internet and I got an example of "The teachers gave us a lesson". It said the "us" in this sentence is the dative. And another example as "methinks", I guessed this one may be more like what you meant right? But if you really meant this kind then I think there might be something familiar in Old Chinese.
As to the ability of learning language, I think if someone is such a good painter like you, he really shouldn't doubt his talent on doing anything~
Eh... Chinese words... There are many words sound exactly the same. But sometimes they look different when they were written on a paper, sometimes if you pitched your voice low or high or consider the whole sentence, it would be very easy to get what they mean. So, it's not that scary after all.
I've read some textbooks on teaching Chinese to western people, and I really don't understand why those writers use some English words they thought sound like the Chinese words to help students learn the pronounciation. Actually when I read those English words, I found they sound totally different from the Chinese words. I know some students in China use this way to learn Chinse, but that's not a good idea after all. So I'm surprised someone would use it in a textbook. (Am I being rude now? I've heard that Chinese people use the expression that sounds rude in English. If I said something wrong, please don't be angry, because I really didn't mean to be rude.)
Happy to get your reply~

ObsidianSerpent In reply to Tonightlove [2011-11-15 19:16:59 +0000 UTC]
The sentence "The teacher gave the apple to us" is what I meant.
In modern English you don't really need to worry about the dative and accusative, since they are the same, so you don't even notice them.
But in Old English the word "he" changes depending on where it is in the sentence.
Nominative = he (same as modern English)
Genetive = his (same as in modern English)
accusative = hine
dative = him
IN modern English we've lost the "hine" form and just use "him" for accusative and dative.
The nouns have a gender too, and what "the" you use has to agree with the gender of the noun etc.
Although it's the ancestor of English the grammar is much more like German than Modern English.
Ah, no, I find that being a bit good at art doesn't help me with being good at other things. I would LOVE to play an instrument, but no matter how much I practice, I am still rubbish at it. I have no sense of rhythm at all, I can't even clap in time.
No, you didn't seem rude at all. I don't think criticizing some textbooks could ever be seen as rude. (well, unless I wrote the textbooks! and I didn't.)
It was really interesting to see what you said about Chinese pronounciation and pitching your voice.
(I love the Tao teh Ching and the I Ching, but of course I've only read them in translation.)

Sorry for the delaying reply, I got to have an exam tomorrow and I've been reviewed these few days.
What you told me about Old English made me feel more interested in Old English! It's really funny! And I suddenly realized that Chinese words never changed for using in different place you know? Like if you use "he" as a genetive, you will change it into "his".But you see, in Chinese, we will just add one more word to show it's a genetive, which means when we want to say "his", we will say "他的" instead of "他". And as to accusative and dative, we just keep using "他", so there is no difference. It's like writting a sentence in English as "He told he something about he." No changes... I guess it may be a little confused to you because you're used to western gramma.
When I studied English in school, the tense was really confusing to me. You change those verbs' looks all the time, and all those perfect tense, present perfect tense... God, they are still confusing me even for now. Actually in Chinese, if we want to express the change of time in a sentence, we just add some words about time like before, ago, in the future. For example, if you want to say "I will go to see a movie tomorrow", you will use "will" in it. But in Chinese, we might just say "I go to see a movie tomorrow", of corse just in Chinese. And we never use present perfect tense, or you can say we never use different tense because there is no tense in Chinese. That's why a lot of English teachers of ours always say that English is more logical than Chinese. But anyway, maybe we are just too lazy to distinguish tense. As for the gender of nouns, that is what Chinese students can never understand. I have a few friends who have to learn German and they are so miserable because they have to memorize every nouns' gender without knowing why there is genders in those words.
I'd love to play an instrument, too. But I'm also rubbish at it... I never know how to read music and I'm really serious about that. When I was in primary school, I started practicing violin, and my teacher told me that I should give up. And that was really depressing. So I never practice any instrument again... I had a chance to learn drawing once, but I was too lazy to get up early so that I can practice, so... another dream failed...
I'm happy I wasn't being rude. In fact there are many western people who said that Chinese people were impolite because the way they talk. But they don't know it's just the different habbit of talking causing the problem. For example, western people say "can I get sth" when they buy something, but Chinese people like to say "I want sth". It's realy just because we use this word in Chinese and we translate these directly into English, so western people just think "oh they are so rude". But we really don't mean to you know.
You have read the Tao Teh Ching and the I Ching? You are so good. I haven't read those things because I don't really believe I can understand them. Those things are about lives, politics and philosophy, I mean I like Lao Zi's opinions about lives, but I don't think I can totally get what he wanted to tell us. But if I got spare time and were in the mood, I might try reading them sometime.

ObsidianSerpent In reply to Tonightlove [2011-11-17 19:55:14 +0000 UTC]
That was really interesting about Chinese. It sounds a bit like ancient Egyptian. That didn't have any changes in tense either.
If they drew a heiroglyph of a scarab it meant "kephri" (life) and that didn't change whether they were talking about the past, present or future.
In English words do change a bit. The sentence you mentioned "He told he something about he." Should either be "He told him something about himself" Or "He told him something about him" (It depends on who he was telling him about, himself, or another man)
I don't know why your teacher said English was more logical. Chinese seems to be better to me.
We don't have gender of nouns in Modern English, and it was one of the things that I found SO difficult when I was trying to learn French. As you say, it's not just the noun changing, it's that the adjective and other things have to change as well.
That was TERRIBLE that you music teacher told you to give up the violin, what an AWFUL thing to say. You should be able to do things because you enjoy them, not just to be good.
Also with drawing, if you enjoy it then you should have a go at drawing Merlin. We are never going to be professional artists, so it's all about having fun and enjoying ourselves, it doesnt matter if we aren't brilliant at it.
I hear what you are saying with how you say things, and that that can sometimes seem rude. In Spain and some places they don't say please when they ask for something, (it just isn't the custom), but in England that would seem like they are being rude.
The I Ching is very difficult to understand, it's very complicated. I use it sometimes with the three coins, as an oracle.
The Tao Teh Ching is LOVELY. I LOVE that, I think what it says about how to live is very true. (And the poetry of how it is written is incredibly beautiful too. I should think it is even more beautiful in the original chinese.)

Ancient Egyptian? Wow... I've never even thought of their language before.
Yeah, I know English words changed. I just made that sentence to show you how words worked in Chinese.XD
Eh... as to logical. Actually it's because of those accurate tense in English that made them think English was more logical. I don't think tense would matter that much, but I still admire English tense.
So French nouns have genders too? Oh, God... We could never get something that easy, right?
Thanks for your comforting about my learning instrument. I guess maybe someday I would try something else. After all I'm not a little girl anymore, I won't be heartbroken just for someone else saying that I'm not good enough.
I really want to draw Merlin! Sometimes the desire of drawing burned me like a good fire, but when I held a pencil and got started, the shape on that paper just froze me right then...
About saying things, I've always worried I would use the wrong words. So I'd be more cautious when I use them. And if I don't know the custom saying, I will always add please.
You have three coins? Really? Oh my god! You are so cute! I never really understand the I Ching. The Tao Teh Ching is difficult to understand too. I don't even know how those translators translate those Old Chinese into English. I mean it's hard enough when it's Chinese. When I read it, I can hardly understand the first sentence. The name "Tao Teh Ching" seems like a transliteration to me. Can I ask you how they translated the word "Tao" in the text?
And I didn't suppose that you would like what the Tao Teh Ching says about how to live. I thought western people would think that as something too negative. Because if you really lived that way in western countries (or in Eastern countyies), you would find it too hard to compete with other people. Right?

Ah, I'm sorry, I misunderstood what you meant with the "he" sentence. Blame me for being a bit dense there!
I should have realised that you couldn't have meant that since your English is obviously so good you wouldn't have made a mistake like that anyway.
I think all the European languages have genders for all the nouns. I think English is the only one that's lost the genders and just has one. (MUCH easier. )
I know what you mean, sometimes starting a drawing can be scary. There are so many ways to go, and you are scared of starting it all off in the wrong way.
Yeah, I've got three coins...(I've also got a ba'gua mirror over my door...and a three legged toad with a coin in its mouth by the front door.)
They don't translate Tao in the text, they just leave the word as Tao. There just isn't an English word that means the same thing.
I think a literal translation of the word tao means way or path? But of course that's not what the Tao is...the Tao is the ebb and flow of everything...and the difference between things, and the similarity too...and the inner essence of things, and things that exist, and things that don't......there's no word in English that means that.
As you say, it's hard to live in accord with it though. You can't very well ring in to work and say "I'm feeling that the Tao is in a relaxing/ebbing mode today, so I don't think I'll come in, I'm going to follow the Tao and watch four episodes of Merlin instead."

I am so so so sorry for the delayed reply!!! I really am! Please forgive me!!!
I was having an exam this afternoon and I had spent a few days to review! And I was exhausted!! Before this afternoon, I was desperately nervous and I was so worried that I couldn't pass my exam! So, though I read your message the day after you had sent it, I didn't reply right away. Hope you won't mind!
Back to our discussion~ I guess the losing genders are good, maybe that's why English become easier to learn.
I thought I might put some effort into learning to draw someday, I mean maybe when I got time.
It seems that you are a huge fan of Chinese culture! You got all these stuff that I haven't even thought of buying, it's really an amazing thing to know that there is someone who is not Chinese but totally into Chinese culture!
I think what you thought about Tao is so true. That's exactly the same idea I got! And it's really surprising to know that you could understand what Tao is when there are a lot of Chinese people can't put their fingers on it. (XD)
Finally, what you said about "the Tao is in a relaxing/ebbing mode today" , eh... I guess that's not what the Tao Teh Ching really means... Actually, Tao is something in the universe that is hard to explain, but what Laozi's idea about living is probably that people should live the lives the way they are. (Am I making you feel more confused?...) Like if the rain was gonna fall, we would not blow the clouds away to stop it. We would take an umbrella, and if we still got wet, we would not be angry. (Oh, god... If I was using Chinese it would be much easier to explain!) I looked up the dictionary and find a saying of "govern by doing nothing". I don't think this saying really express what Laozi wanted to say but maybe it's the most close one...
Speaking of Merlin, have you watched the episode 8 of season 4? Actually I found it not as interesting as I expected it to be. And I really want to know your opinion about it!!

Oh, NO need to spologise for a delay in reply. I usually take ages to reply to things, I just happen to be replying quickly at the moment.
Good luck with your exam, I do hope you passed and did as well as you wanted.
That was really interesting what you said about the Tao. I'm sure I haven't grasped it properly. It's a difficult idea anyway, and when you are reading it in translation as well.....
Yes, I've seen episode 8 of season 4. I really enjoyed it, but I know it's not a popular episode with a lot of people. Have you been watching Merlin from the beginning? Which are your favourite episodes of all so far?
(Are you more of a Merlin or an Arthur fan...and what do you think of Gwen...?)

Thank you!~
You liked episode 8 of season 4?? Really?? I thought everybody would found it boring and meaningless... Actually, I did... In this episode, Merlin and Arthur barely even talk and I don't even understand the uses of Lamia showing up at this moment... And honestly, her appearance was just plain.
Eh, what you mean "from the beginning" is from the first time it showed on TV or from the episode 1 of season 1? I did watched all of Merlin's episodes, but I started watching this after there had been already three seasons of the show. Um...My favorite episodes are Season 3 episode 8 and I think the whole season 4 is great except episode 8...
I'm more of a Merlin fan actually. I love Merlin!!! He is perfect!! He is everything that makes a man perfect!!! He is brave, kind-hearted, wise, humorous and his magic is strong. I don't know what other words that can discribe him, but I do love him more.
What do I think of Gwen... If I said I hated her, would you be angry and not talk to me anymore? And I do want to know your opinions of those characters.

ObsidianSerpent In reply to Tonightlove [2011-11-24 22:47:30 +0000 UTC]
I don't think that episode was widely popular among fans. But most of my friends also liked it, it depends what you are looking for. There was hardly any Merlin/Arthur interaction, (which was a shame), but there was some other stuff in it that was really nice.
Yes, I was asking if you have watched it since season 1 episode 1.
I like the characters of Merlin and Arthur, but I prefer Merlin.
No, I wouldn't stop talking to you if you said you hated Gwen.
I liked Gwen very much in season 1. When she was very much like Merlin's best friend.
The writers kind of lost that feeling in seasons 2 and 3.
That was one of the reasons why I enjoyed episode 8, because we had a little bit of that back, with Merlin and Gwen being great friends and helping each other again.

Tonightlove In reply to ObsidianSerpent [2011-11-26 14:33:04 +0000 UTC]
Oh...I have to say that many Chinese fans didn't like this episode. Have you ever heard of a Chinese masterpiece named Journey to the West? It's about a monk named Tang Sanzang and his four disciples traveled a long journey to the West so they could meet the buddha and get the Sutra. And during the journey, they met a lot of trouble but after eighty adventurous experiences, Tang Sanzang finally got the real Buddhist scripture. (I would just skip the details because it's really a long story.) Every Chinese has known the story since they were little because we got a TV series about the book. But what I want to say is that Tang Sanzang met a lot of monsters who looked like beautiful girls but they were just foxes and they had used magic to change their look. And this kind of monster had the ability to make men like her and after those men had fell into her, she would take their spirit to gain her own power. Does it look familiar to you? Right, Lamia. Actualy, it's not the similar story that we don't like. It's Lamia's plain look that made us feel uncomfortable. She should be pretty enough to allure men at least... But she is just... you know...
And my friends also wanted to know how western fans thought about this episode. After all, so little Chinese fans liked this episode. And most of all, the Merlin/Arthur interaction is too hard to find in this episode...
So~ You prefer Merlin~ Actually, I'm gonna tell you something maybe you can't accept well. (Don't be angry! Please!)Many Chinese fans found that Merlin was really cute and we called him "son". And this "son" does not just mean a boy or a young man. It means the son of a mother. And there are many Chinese fans who wrote fanfics for Merlin, if they liked to make stories in which Arthur and Merlin didn't suffer too much and fell in love with each other quickly or they finally got together, we called them mother. But if they prefer sad endings and making stories in which Merlin suffered a lot, we called them stepmother. (Eh... Since we were all infected by Snow White, we believed that stepmothers are harsh to their stepson...) Are you still calm? Those are just jokes so please don't be angry.
I think the main reason we hate Gwen (I said we because I can hardly find someone like this girl in China) is because she became a huge obstacle between Arthur and Merlin's true love! She is not as pretty as Morgana, and she kissed every man in the show, and we really can't accept a woman like this to be with Arthur. Arthur is so innocent, he should be with someone as perfect as Merlin not Gwen! You remenbered how Arthur reacted when he greeted Gwen nakedly, he was so shy! It looked like Gwen was the man in this relationship and it's not good! (BTW we don't like her kissing Merlin in the season 1 either.)

Journey to the West sounds a bit like Monkey. (Although that was a Japanese series, and the monk in that was called Tripitaka, so I assume it isn't the same thing?). I used to watch that series when I was young.
In Greek mythology there are characters called Lamia, who are part serpent and part woman and who seduce men and kill them. I would guess that might be where the writers got the idea from.
There are also other Western fairies and mythical creatures who do the same thing. Like the Glaistig, or the fairy in the Keats' poem, "La belle dame sans merci" [link]
I think most cultures have something similar in them. I had heard of the fox-women magical creatures, though I don't know much about them. (Wasn't Nine Tails in Pokemon loosely drawn from the idea of the fox spirit?)
It didn't bother me that she wasn't pretty. It was meant to be magic after all. In a way I thought that worked well, since Merlin and Gwen wouldn't even be able to see WHY the knights were all going batty over her, since they can see the real her.
That was very interesting about the Merlin as "son" in Chinese. The Stepmother name for writers who were mean to Merlin made me laugh.
If you don't like Gwen then I would think today's episode will just make you feel more badly about her. I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard a bit and will be interested to see what it is like.
I agree that Gwen can't seem to make her mind up. In season one it seemed as though she actually fanicied Merlin to start with...then it was Arthur...then it was Lancelot...then there was a little bit of flirting with Gwaine...then back to Arthur and seeming like she didn't care about Lancelot at all, (she was all "Protect Arthur with your life!" to Lancelot)
She does need to make her mind up.

Sorry for being late again. Another exam. I've been really busy these days.
I guess they were the same. Cause I knew there was a Japanese version of this story. Actually, there are many versions of this story in China or Japan.
I think maybe Nine Tails in pokemon share something in common with that fox-woman magical creature. In fact there is another Chinese book telling many ghosts stories or stories about creatures mentioned something about the Nine Tails thing and it believes these two are the same.
Okay, we shouldn't be held back by that Lamia, she is meaningless.
About Season 4 Eposide 9. I'm kind of happy to see that Arthur send Gwen far away, but since we all know she would definitely come back, I felt upset again. And what he said about not trusting Gwen anymore, on the one hand, I'm glad that now Merlin is the only one he can trust, but on the other hand, I got more worried for Merlin. I'm so afraid that when Merlin revealed his magic, Arthur would have the same feeling as this time for Gwen.
As for Gwen not making her mind up... I'm not sure. I guess I even don't want to see her in this show again. Can't she just quit and do whatever she likes to do? She shouldn't be with Arthur. She is not the one! Have you seen those deleted scenes on season 4? In the first episode, Arthur gave Merlin his mother's sigil! Didn't that mean something? Wasn't that touching and sweet? Arthur had showed his mind a long time before he proposed to Gwen. He gave the most precious thing he got to Merlin, not Gwen! Oh, as to the ring, THAT RING IS NOTHING!!! Did you notice the look on Arthur's face when Gwen held him too tight? Did you find the unhappy face Arthur showed when Gwen said yes?! Arthur didn't want to do that at all! He loves Merlin and he will always love Merlin! There is no one who can take Merlin's place! They are meant to be together! So, every time I thought of Gwen was going to marry him, my heart was broke. I just can't stand that Arthur can't follow his heart and admit his feelings for Merlin and most importantly marry someone he really fell into. Of course that one is not Gwen.

I'm very much afraid that Gwen will definitely come back, so we will all just have to get used to it.
Yes, I've seen the deleted scene with the sigil. Why did they delete that, it was SUCH a great scene.
As you hate Gwen did you watch the deleted scene with Arthur and Gwen talking in a corridor? Not because of Gwen, but because Arthur said such great things, he was all "I've come to think maybe I'm wrong, and magic isn't evil, it's all down to who is doing the maigic, maybe it's time to accept magic back into the kingdom again..." Wonderful stuff, I just wish he had been saying it to Merlin.
Unfortunately it was a deleted scene before the whole Dragoon kills Uther bit, so he changed his mind again after that. But even so...it shows he was WELL on his way to accepting magic back into Camelot.) (And I think he's come to accept since then that Dragoon didn't mean to kill Uther, so...
Yes, Arthur really didn't seem particularly happy when Gwen said yes to his proposal...not as happy as you would think.
I think it's a shame Lancelot has gone. I thought Arthur could marry Gwen for the sake of Camelot, (we know it's gonna happen whether we like it or not)...but REALLY (once they are married), she goes off to Lancelot's room every night and Merlin goes off to Arthur's. And they all know and it suits them all perfectly. *G*

XDDDDDDDDDDDD I still can't get myself out of your last sentence! That is indeed perfact~~
Ok, we all know that Gwen will come back on 411, so... we can only get used to it. I'm used to it already. And I know I handle this better than many of my friends. Some of them just skip the Gwen part when they watch the show, so, at least I watched all of them.
I did watch it when Arthur talked to Gwen in a corridor. I think that scene is good too. Except for the last touch on Gwen's cheek... Thar's creepy. I also wondered why he didn't tell Merlin that. Maybe he thought Merlin can't be trusted?? I still worry about Arthur not trusting Merlin. Since we both can see the doubtful look he gave Merlin in 410.
I guess Arthur would forgive Merlin for killing Uther. At least I hope so. After all Gaius had told Arthur that Merlin didn't mean to do that. Right?
Actually I don't like 410 that much you know. I thought I would be happy becausse Gwen was abandoned. But 410 is so boring... I know Arthur and Merlin's tears are moving. But, still, it's boring. I expected more than that.
We were all really upset when we knew that Lance had gone. But you know, after one day, all the Chinese fans suddenly cheered up and forced ourselves to believe that Lance would be back... We are so strongly believing that since Lance was son of Nimuel (from the book Once and Future King) , he would be back as a god~~XDD (I know we are comforting ourselves but you know... There is no other way to accept his death...)

Yeah, I wasn't knocked out by 4.10...it was okay...I enjoyed it...but it wasn't an episode I'll go back and watch lots of times.
Watched 4.11 yesterday. Again, I enjoyed it, but it didn't knock me out.
And they REALLY need to get Arthur a different crown. The one he's got at the moment looks utterly STUPID! He looks like someone wearing a cardboard party hat.
That's a nice idea about Lance. I'm sorry they killed him off. I did always find him a little bit....I dunno...boring though. Pretty but dull.

Eh... Sorry but what does "knock out" mean? Does that mean you like it or not like it? I'm a little unfarmiliar with this kind of local meanings. Or maybe you mean that you were not excited about 4.10 and you just enjoy it because it's OK? I'm still guessing...
4.11 is really... I don't know... I like that new princess! She is beautiful, smart, gentle and It seemed to me that she was perfect. Even after she was humuliated by Arthur. I think Arthur was so rude in 4.11. He couldn't just invite some princess to his kingdom and blow her off like that. He can't be mad at everyone just because he is not in the mood. Actually, when he threatened Merlin he would send Merlin in an exile, I was sad. But when he said it again in 4.11, I was totally mad! I shouted at the screen saying "How dare you! You can send him away! I'd love to see what you can do without our Merlin!" I know I looked like a crazy person... But I don't care anymore. Arthur shouldn't treat Merlin like this. And I was so upset that Merlin told Arthur Gwen was the one sacrificed most for Arthur. I mean, come on! We all knew that Merlin was the one! How can he be this stupid and hurt himself all along?!
As to the crown... Hahaha! That one is so silly! But I guess it's not the crown's fault... I mean, you saw Uther's crown and even Morgana was looking good in her crown. Maybe it was just Bradley not suiting that thing.. Haha~ Maybe his head was too large? (I really don't want to say this, I'm sorry if I was being rude!)
You are totally right. I thought Lance was boring too. Until I saw him returning under Morgana's enchantment. When he was back, he looked noble and kind but deep down he was controlled and sort of evil, right? I think that is the most charming part of him. I like to see that he pretend to love Gwen but he really doesn't give a shit about her. I mean, look at his eyes! Aren't they sexy when he look at Gwen in that "holy shit, who is this" way? Hahahahaha~~

If you are knocked out by something it means it's incredibly good. I wasn't knocked out...so I didn't think it was that good.
I LOVED the new princess in 4.11 I thought she was great. I loved the way she realised how important Merlin was to Arthur and tried to be friends with him too.
I loved how she loved hunting, and how she belched to make Arthur feel less embarrassed.
I think if she had married Arthur then it would be her/Arthur/Merlin...all three together in bed. It would have solved the problem.
Yeah, Arthur threatening to banish Merlin was so out of order. Merlin has been SUCH a good friend to him. I forgive Arthur because he was very upset.
I think Bradley's crown looks so daft because it's too big and you can't see any of his hair. He's all forehead and crown.
Oh yes, I do agree, Lancelot was MUCH more interesting when he was evil. It gave him another level of sexiness that he didn't have before.
It's a shame there wasn't more of him and Merlin when Lancelot was like that.

Hahahahahaha!!
You are getting more and more lovely when you talked about Merlin you know? What you said is really funny! XDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Actually, before I wrote this reply to you, my friends told me a joke. And it made me laugh so loud so I want to share it with you!
There was a man studying in a library and suddenly he fart and it really last long. The student beside him pulled out his cellphone from his pocket quickly and found there was nothing on his phone. So he turned, patting that man's shoulder and said:"Hey, man, you got a phone call."
Are you laughing?
If you are not, then there is more.
After my friend told me the joke, I suddenly got an idea and I said:"What about one day I putting my cellphone on the chair and sitting on it, then you calling me?" Then the other girl just walked toward me and said:"So what? So when someone told you it was your phone then you can say ‘No, it's my fart.' "
Are you laughing now?
BTW I heard that we could see Meteor shower tonight and I just rushed down strairs and came back... I haven't seen anything yet...
Ok, let's get back to Merlin.
I think that princess's belching was really cute! She is really a wonderful woman and she is perfect for Arthur. But I haven't thought of threesome... till you said it. I didn't know you are such a naughty girl before. I always thought I was the naughty one between us~XD
Honestly, I have a question. I can't forgive Arthur behaving like this but what I want to ask you is that why every time when Merlin said something that could make Arthur happy, Arthur would just praise Merlin that he had wisdom? I mean saying something that can courage him means wisdom? That is really har d to understand.
Bradley's crown is too big? I guess it's something with the way he wear it. They always put Brad's hair above the crown and then we can't see his hair. But do you remember the first time Arthur got his crown for being king? That time he left some hair on the forehead and it also not looked good.
More of Lancelot and Merlin when Lancelot with like that? I don't think that's a good idea, because what they had in that episode was not that funny. Actually, in the first few episodes of season 4, the communication between Merlin and Lance was really sweet. And since the transliteration of the name Merlin was sound like May and Lan May sound like Blueberriy in Chinese, so we called those who loved to see Lancelot×Merlin Blueberry Pie!~XD Isn't it lovely?

No, there was an exchange thing, where you were given a couple of prompts and then had a week to paint a picture or write a story that went with it. I used the prompts Arthur/Merlin, H/C and Protection.
I had to have two tries, as the first picture I did, (which was quite different), was in pen and ink...and when I went to rub away my pencil drawing underneath, (although the ink SHOULD have been perfectly dry), it went and smudged so badly I couldn't save it. So I had to start again and did this instead.
I'm so glad you liked it.

Actually it was quite good that the smudge thing happened, as the first picture was pretty damn terrible...but because of the time constraints I might have ended up posting it anyhow, so I'm kinda glad it was taken out of my hands. *G*)
(You don't have to credit unless you want to, you know...The idea of Merlin beat-up and Arthur protecting him is pretty generic. But if you want to link us up then that's lovely too. *hugs*)

Sorry I didn't comment this beautiful piece sooner but wanted to do it properly ^^
I absolutely LOVE it, as you know I love the H/C stuff and your illust is such a delight for me
I would love to know the story behind the pic
No need to mention I saved it on my HDD and on my Itouch (like that I can show your art to my friends )
With the new season (and the 1st 4 episodes which were fantastic to my opinion) I am sure muses are gonna knock again in your ears
I love all the details you put on that illust (the chain, its shadow, the scratches, poor Merlin, hopefully Arthur went to the rescue ^^)
I don't know if you saw episode 4 already but believe me, it's a golden mine for Merthur shipper (although it was not the best eps of S4 for me, but that's not a problem as the sexual tension was here and there and there and, well, everywhere lol)
Hugs and love

Season 4 is SOOOOOO good...it's as though it was written by a fan! There are just so many wonderful moments in it. So many close Arthur and Merlin scenes...I just LOVE this season so much.
Yeah, I've definitely got my muse back. I'm working on a piece for the Merlin Games competition at the moment, which is why I've been a bit quiet. I am doing Merlin painting, but I won't be able to post it till February at the same time as all the other people taking part.
I'm near the end of this painting though, and after this I have thoughts for a couple of Merlin paintings that I could do just for fun.
:hugs: and love back to you.

Well my bugs are still there but nobody found out the real problem so I decided to let down and continue like that withous stressing about it, I am really not well atm so I don't need extra stress
And my comments on your pieces are always genuine, sometimes I can't descibe with words what I feel when I look at them, you know, sometimes you have artists who can do marvellous stuff but I don't feel anything in front of it, contrary to yours which are always so vivid, with a real soul, if you see what I mean
Not a lot of artists give me that wondeful feeling, you're one of them

things I love about this (as unskilled admirer): Merlin's cheekbones. The ears. The defiant look in his eyes. He's injured but definitely not a victim. He's not hiding behind Arthur, more of a silent support. Merlin' long finger on his right hand. Arthur's right hand (seems a bit crazy but I love Arthur's right hand, so accurate and natural). Arthur's jacket (wow). Both their faces are perfect. Arthur's throat. Their proportions are perfect. Thank you for sharing this!
