Description
Acrylic on canvas board.This is part of a mini-Merlin-exchange. It’s my exchange-gift for Goss, (who is an absolutely LOVELY artist, and it’s so nice to do something for someone whose work you have enjoyed so much.)
Based off her prompt “ "Protection” and hopefully including Merlin/Arthur and a hint of H/C.

It was such a buzz that you noticed the bits of the painting that I'm most happy with myself, (like Arthur's hand). And so nice that you saw some emotion in the painting and saw in Merlin's expression/pose what I was thinking in my head when I painted it.

OMG. You painted this? Like, with oil colours 'cause it looks like them to me. If true, then it's just... perfect and amazing! You have such a talent!

I do use oil colours, but this painting was painted with acrylics.
Acrylics are very similar to oil paints, they come in tubes the same as oils, and you paint with them on canvas the same as oils.
The main difference is that you use turpentine or linseed oil to thin oil paint, and with acrylics you use water.

Someone else has commented on here that they quite fancy writing a fic based on it. But I can't see that it would matter if more than one person did, since the stories would be completely different.
(I'd love to read a fic actually, and find out why Merlin is in the state he's in.

I didn't have a lot of time to do this one, because it was an exchange thing and there was a time limit on when you had to post it. So I thought I'd keep the background quite loose and sketchy. I must admit, I quite like that effect and I might use it again sometime.
I do love it when they are protective of each other.

This is incredible! It took me a minute to realise Arthur was holding a sword (thought it was a boomerang... but it couldn't be!) xD Merlin needs a hug.

I KNOW, you aren't the only person to say "What is Arthur holding?"
It was MEANT to be a foreshortened sword.
But if anyone wants to interpret it as a boomerang, and that Merlin and Arthur have been transported to Australia, and are being attacked by a troupe of male kangaroos, then that's totally fine too. *G*
(That idea would actually make a mighty interesting fic...I could see Merlin getting really into aborignial culture, and Arthur being inpatient and just wanting to get home...)
