Description I was asked, so ye :v

STOP! IF YOU HAVEN'T OTOED YOUR VOICEBANK YET, THERE IS A FAR MORE EFFICIENT AND QUICK WAY TO DO THIS. YOU DON'T NEED TO WASTE YOUR TIME DOING IT THIS WAY IF THAT IS THE CASE! (Tutorial for that way coming soon!)

STOP NUMBER 2! Before you comment saying 'But Ocarina!!! There's a much more efficient way! Do it this way instead and it's easier!!' I know that. But this is better for three reasons: 1) People without a Japanese locale (like me) can't really copy-paste it properly, 2) This is better for making sure the bank is aliased more accurately, and 3) If you've already done your OTO it's already to late.
Also the way I have this labeled is the way that USTs are written. I am aware that a lot of these syllables don't exist in Japanese, but if you're using a hiragana UST then this is what the syllables will match up to. ぢ and づ have been purposely left out. The program will only play the first alphabetic syllable with the same name, and so in the rare case it is used it is better to look up the lyrics so you can input which syllable would be more appropriate. Okay, you can keep reading now.

So, this is the most basic and tedious way to alias your voicebank. I prefer doing it manually because it's more precise and you don't end up with accidental syllables. Aliasing your voicebank means that your UTAU will be able to sing whether the ust is in hiragana or romaji. Just plop in the character opposite of whichever the original file is named, hit set, okay, then you're golden! I recommend doing this manually as last time I checked, the Essential UTAU Toolkit isn't always accurate and it doesn't cover some syllables that aren't strictly hiragana. If you have a character I haven't listed let me know and I'll try and add it. For things that have multiple names, I recommend you hit that duplicate button and add a new alias, it won't make a new file and will also carry over your OTO so no worries there, and then you'll have all your bases covered! This list is in English alphabetical order, so if you've got them named in romaji you can just go right down the list. Watch it though, as some of these syllables are extras that I have seen used/used myself on several other VBs, and are not included in a normal reclist (recording list). Let me know if I screwed something up/named it improperly/accidently put two syllables down as the same hiragana so I can fix it. I am only human after all, and I noticed I did it a couple of times when I glanced over the list. I may have missed something, but I'm like 99% sure it's right now.

Guide to what to name the characters:

breath=息 or br1 or breath (extra breath samples are labeled with another number after them, such as breath2, 息2, and with the br1 label replace the number like this: br2, br3 etc. This isn't necessary when there is only one sample)

First off, thanks for all the work you went through, really must have taken you a lot of time and I very much appreciate it.
Quick question though, I know the alias for the end breaths but do you happen to know the alias for the "inhales"?

OcarinaLink24 In reply to Guumi-chan [2020-02-05 21:26:30 +0000 UTC]

Depends on which one you want to use. I'd recommend duplicating so you have multiple aliases for it so people can find it easier.

breath=息 or br1 or breath (extra breath samples are labeled with another number after them, such as breath2, 息2, and with the br1 label replace the number like this: br2, br3 etc. This isn't necessary when there is only one sample)

I'm not even entirely sure what that's supposed to be. Can you write what you mean in romaji?

Like, The small hiragana thing doesn't have a meaning and it's very confusing when doing alias...

I'm still not entirely sure what you mean. All the syllables are right next to how to pronounce them. The little hiragana is so you can put more sounds if you want. So if you recorded くぁ it would be kua since く is ku and ぁ is a. (Kwa already exists and would probably be the same sound. This is kwa くゎ) For a guide on what the little hiragana sounds make it's here:

There are videos to add a japanese locale to your computer, and plugins to change any romaji to hiragana in USTs and vice versa if you find it less tedious in the future!

Ocarina I don't mean to bug you but I made the mistake of recording with a romaji reclist, so I'd alias hiragana. However, the ,more efficient way seems to be  hiragana reclist with Romaji alias? This is in reference to VCV. Is there somewere to confirm how to correctly alias hiragana, for romaji vcv 7 mora. Or should I just record files again?
-sigh- Just want to not learn to things an incorrect way, because I know vcv is a lot of work, but want to be efficient

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OcarinaLink24 In reply to ForgetMeAgain [2017-09-14 00:37:23 +0000 UTC]

generally speaking you don't do romaji aliases for VCV. it's always in hiragana from my experience. the original file names don't really matter. Traditionally it's in hiragana, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Actually, more people can use it if it's named in romaji in the first place!

ForgetMeAgain In reply to OcarinaLink24 [2017-09-15 02:59:32 +0000 UTC]

I realized I wrote that wrong, *meant just naming in romaji/hiragana with hiragana alias xD . Was not sure if it was bad to name the voice files in romaji. Thank you ocarina link this will help for sure in the future!

Oh god...
When I type the Hiragana into the alias box and click set, only zeros appear but the part where the hiragana symbol should be shows nothing. And also it doesn't sing even though I put everything (in hiragana)
My system locale is Japanese >.>

OcarinaLink24 In reply to Amaiono [2017-05-23 04:06:46 +0000 UTC]

The zeros are there because it's unOTOed. It's got nothing to do with aliasing.

As for nothing popping up when you click set, are you using it with a Japanese keyboard or copy pasting?

interesting thing:  I copied your post and put it in a word file (my computer is not in Japanese Local).  Copying and pasting it from there does not work, even when I have the Japanese keyboard turned on.  However, if I copy and paste from the site with the Japanese keyboard turned on, it works.  Also this noob discovered it works if you copy the list into notepad.  I just wanted a copy saved on my computed so I can work on the aliases when I am at home with no internet.  Full credit to you for all your hard work! I am eternally grateful!!!!

I tried this but it still won't work for me. I have the default voicebank, and no matter what I do she will not sing. I even put in the Japanese syllables, but when I do it comes out as a ?. I tried to alias them like this too, and it yielded no results. Is there a way to fix this? I'm so sorry to bother.

Don't apologize!! This is actually a very common problem. Was your locale changed before or after you installed UTAU? Is the UST in CV/VCV accordingly? If you'd like I could take a look at the voicebank. Could you upload it to mediafire and send it my way somehow?

Yeah, copy-and-pasting is fine~ You can do it from another voicebank, or just from here (locale needs to be in Japanese for that though).
Romaji is the one that's in our language, and hiragana is Japanese.
