New Math by Tom Lehrer as done by ponies. Nothing is safe from a pony crossover! >:3Made some corrections from the youtube version [link] so I can upload with minimal mistakes. I added a few subtle things, made a crowd laughing scene that I used a couple of times. Do you guys think I should just replace all the crowd laughing bits I got from "the show stoppers" with DW's?
NRGPony helped with the marker and eraser bits under my direction. I'm hoping to get him involved with the Insomnia video I'm planning to do next.
This song was made in the 1960's during the Russian Scare (as I calls it) and the "new method" of teaching math was a way to get american kids to be smarter than the russian kids. Needless to say elements of the new math were kept but the bulk of it was dropped throughout the US since it sure as hell wasn't any easier to understand for the little tykes. I found myself actually understanding what Tom was saying after listening to this thing several hundred times.

I have loved this song since it helped me realize why mom and grandma had no way of helping me with my homework as a kid. Ponies are great on a number of levels.

As one who was taught New Math in the 60s and discovered Tom Lehrer in the 70s (thanks to Dr. Demento), I've always loved this song. Your wonderful animation adds another level of enjoyment.
What's next? The Elements or Lobachevsky, perhaps?

the way I remember which is which; I simply look at which direction the < > point.
< points to the left and that's usually indicative of lesser/negative integers on the number line.
> points to the positive numbers.

If you try and put a number ( or just any variable ) in front of both signs, then you'll see that it isn't switched ^^. I made the same mistake when I first looked at it.

Heh, I just thought of something. He says fingers and then hands, both times followed by a scene of the crowd laughing ... that includes Lyra. The first time ("missing two fingers"), you should have her blink, confused, looking at her hooves. The second time ("hands"), you should have her sitting and glaring angrily.
You could do some really funny stuff with Lyra in all the crowd shots.
