Description ♪ Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays! ♪
I know it's a little late for a Christmassy drawing, but over here it started snowing heavily the past days so I'm still feeling those winter vibes XD This is a little different from what I usually draw, but I figured it was about time I manned up and tried something more complex. And it was a good opportunity to practice my backgrounds too :3 Overall I'm pretty happy with the final result, I know it's not perfect and knowing me I've probably forgotten to add some details, but I was getting too impatient so here it is! XD I'm sorry if I messed up that cat, I'm not that good at drawing anything but humans (aka females) so pls don't cringe too hard

For me this is what the perfect laze day looks like! Nothing like sitting at home on a chilly night with a cup of hot chocolate and some music
What is your ideal scenario for relaxing? I'd love to hear it

PS: The cat's name is Maki (from macchiato, because I love coffee <3)

This art is very beautiful !!
I love the colors and the type of shading I use.
I can tell you that you had a lot of work to do with this work because it has many details.
Congratulations!

Hi! I think you shouldn't care so much about forgotten details, it's the impression that counts and I think the mood in here is pretty clear and cozy! Since you said you want to practice your backgrounds I'm going to say a few things for improvement on that, I hope that's okay!
So the biggest problem with this is that everything has the same value. The foreground and the background completely merge through that. Wouldn't it look more comfortable if the outside was darker than the inside? That way you would have more depth in the picture, and the idea of the big city outside would really seem big. James Gurney does this pretty well in his videos, they helped me a lot so maybe they help you too!

And the cat is not that big of a problem, it's just the face that's a bit messed up. The nose bridge is completely missing (cats have noses just like humans) and in general there's no such deep area in a cat face. Also the eyes are too high up, and a bit closer to each other (maybe also a bit wider, but I guess that depends on how you stylize faces).

Also the head and the hand aren't too big. I mean, for something stylized they aren't. They also work well together. The only problem with the hand is that the thumb seams too thick to me. After the bulky part the thumb gets thinner, but the one you drew doesn't.

That's all I have to say for this, hopefully it was a bit of a help ! ^-^

Wow! Overall, this is quite the fantastic piece you've done! How long did it take to do? The lighting, composition and setting are quite good . As you said, there are some errors, but considering what you've put into this piece they aren't too glaring. One of the things I've noticed is the person's hand looking a bit odd (possibly the size of the thumb?) and as you said the cat, but the animal doesn't look that bad to me. Looking up cat stock can be quite helpful though. It helped me for some of my pieces since I also can't draw animals XD. Keep it up dude!

Thanks! I'm not sure, I did it over the span of several days and didn't really count it up, but it did take pretty long for sure XD Yeah I noticed the hand and the head are too big after I finished it and was too lazy to go back and change it ;_; And the cat, well, I did look at references but it proved to be more challenging than I expected xD Anyway many thanks for the feedback, I'll keep practicing!!

Always . Wow ! Makes sense though considering how much you've drawn. Hmm are you able to select parts of the body and shrink it or would that mess with the background? Have you tried doing shapes in the initial drawing of the cat to help with scaling, position, etc.?  Yay! .

It's possible, but I hate messing with it after I finished everything. I'll just have to keep it in mind for the future and learn from my mistakes. And of course, I always start with shapes but it still won't come out perfect without practice
