Description Brittany and Chance - he was not having a good day. This is perhaps the worst pole bending photo you could possibly get, but otherwise it's an amazing photo. It reminds me of the Lippazaner horses.

This was a fun pose to try and recreate, though I used it for a liberty instead of a mishap pole pending. I used this picture as a referenced for this competition picture for my horse.

Reminds me of the time I happened to snap the girl's horse jumping the barrel out our arena.
Wonderful shot!

I love the ripples in his flank as well. He's just a gorgeous horse.

Helmets! I shudder at the thought. I wore them when I was younger, but now! Pah! I can't stand having them on. My mom even once bought me the ones that inside of the cowboy hats. It was okay, but I just prefer a nice leather cowboy hat. I know, this will come back and bite me, when my head splits open, but whatever. lol

nice picture, my favorite part? yes, the ripples in his hind flank.

I'm going to add you to my references (as for me to look at later) for casual, its an amazing capture, and since you have the same camera, I must keep, and learn..

as with the helmet discussion, i try my best to wear a helmet, my instructor was killed because she was thrown from her mare and whacked her neck/head.
So even though i love the feeling of wind through my hair, i also like the feeling of life.

This is a great picture!
I'd be terrified to ride most horses without a helmet.

I have never in my life worn a helmet while riding. It just isn't done in western riding.

I'm gunna randomly jump in here on the discussion like a year later because I feel like it, but yaise..

I've learned english riding and so from the start we were required to wear helmets... and I used to take it back to the states with me and ride friend's western horses and they all made fun of me... and the only horse I've ever ridden without one is my own horse because I felt like I really knew her... I think I'm only confortable without a helmet if I really feel like I know the horse... otherwise I just dont like to take the chance...
I had a friend who smacked her head falling off of a horse and the hat literally broke in half... and she had a minor concusion... but I cant imagine what the damage would have been without the hat... :S

I have never worn a helmet either.

I guess just growing up on the farm, and hopping on and going where you want to, whenever you want doesn't entitle a helmet.

Well, some of us do, just for the situations like these, eventho you've got no intention of falling down. (I fell down just because the saddle broke. Kept the saddle, not the horse. )

For me it's not the fact that they don't have helmets on that catches my eye, but the way they don't have hats! Veeeery strange.

Great shot, the horse looks so big and powerfull. You've got the timing so right in every photo!

yeah, lots of the riders actually did have hats (they all fell off anyway), but Brittany didn't.

And Chance is a big boy - I'm not sure, but I think he's etiher an Appendix QH or all Thoroughbred - he's tall and lanky.

Hats tend to do that...
Looks a lot like TB to me.

I learned English. Near the city. So helmets HAD to be worn.
It's a lot more lax out of the city though...

Brittany is an amazing rider - she doesn't let any horse get the best of her. She and Chance are normally so in tune - its like they read each other's mind.
