I've never seen a bit like this before and thought it was unique enough to merit its own photo.Drawn by ~Elvandia - [link]

Let me quote what I wrote about the drawing which was based on this photo: Heh, I can't get ovet this attitude "I'm gonna love you, but I'm gonna make you feel pain if you disobey..." People are fascinating with their subliminal, inherent cruelty.
I still stand for it.
The quality of the photo is very good though.

Thanks! Though the stupidity and ignorance in the horse world continues on, sadly...

Thats so true unfortunately... its always so gut wrenching to see photos of rollkur, white open mouths, anxious eyes and so much more and people cheer "oh my god thats so gorgeous!" a horses beauty sure is his biggest curse :<

Do you happen to be one of Rick Gore's listeners on youtube? If not, you could check him out, it's because of him I try to look with a critical eye at how horses are treated, he taught me a lot. He's a great horseman, promotes bitless riding, explains horse's point of view and their real needs.
Sadly, it's almost impossible to educate people. They have to want to change themselves.
Suddenly I rememered a line from Princess Mononoke: "I want to see with the eyes unclouded by hate". Here we could say the opposite: I want to see with the eyes unclouded by love.

Haha I am! so glad to come across another Rick listener!
He sure had a huge impact on me too, I always took everything as "normal" (not everything, as a kid I always questioned metal in an animals mouth) and the more I watched the more critical I become. And the more critical I become the more I started to see sorrow and misfortune souls. Its so sad that most horses are just "tools" - tools to get money, ribbons, trophies... its horrible :<
And that phrase, I love it. Imagine how much could change if people actually cared and took off their pink glasses

Nice to see how influential Rick is! Hopefully there will be more people standing up for a Horse.
About the pink glasses though, I understand not wanting to put them off also. There is just so much misery and pain (I could go on for hours about, let's say, inhumane practices regarding fishing), people actually prefer being unaware. And it's also healthy not to bear all the world's problems on your shoulders... It's just something you learn as you get older, I guess. There has to be a balance

No, I don't, but you can find it on ebay. Search for "silver heart bit" and you should get something. I know it comes in both a snaffle and a curb. Good luck!

Super cool shot! I wish they made snaffles like this; I don't like the action of curbs.

I like the picture. The detail on the bit is worth a second glance! Great that you managed to spot such a small detail on a big event as a rodeo!

Ah, rodeo bling. Lovely shot. Shame the horse was grungy though. Kind of kills the flashy part. Silly people. XD

I really don't know what kind of bit it is - this was a horse at a rodeo. It caught my eye though.
